With the OF'ers that have gone through Fenway over the last 50 years, spending time thinking about Cordero as part of a longer term game plan is laughable to me. The stats are a good evaluation tool, but combine it with some eyeball observations to see the inherent skill levels and adjustments to the situation they are hitting in.

Anxiously awaiting for Part III so I can start bitching about our starting rotation....they are imploding.

If Bloom and Cora can't see that then they're not half as good as I thought......

Don't have Houck miss a turn....are you kidding me? Did they watch E Rod pitch last night? Richards? Pivetta?

Agreed. Without reinforcements, this team could take a bad turn. Blue Jays have added Hand and Berríos and they are pretty far back. Yanks added two big bats, and Bloom has a guy on the DL.

Call me crazy but I would rather protect K.Crawford on the 40 man than Cordero or Dalbec. And if I were running a team and making a trade with the Red Sox, I would be more interested in acquiring K.Crawford over Cordero or Dalbec. I would also prefer A.Scherff over Cordero and Dalbec.

I just don't like the hit tools of Cordero and Dalbec. And Cordero doesn't play quality defense anywhere. Dalbec is a little more interesting because he can play 3b, but I don't want his pathetic hit tool on my roster.

Santana

Andriese

Rios

Wilson

Arauz

Potts

Rosario

Richards

All Sox players I'd DFA DFA Cordero or Dalbec.

They could have stretched out Whitlock.....

Pre-June 1: Pivetta 3.86, Perez 3.55, Richards 3.83, Rodriguez 5.64.

Post June 1: Pivetta 5.17, Perez 4.91, Richards 6.65, Rodriguez 5.55.

I'd take Wilson, Arauz and Rosario over Cordero. I take Dalbec over all those guys.

He's exactly the type of guy you need in postseason situations. I'm glad he's in the pen.

If this team goes at it is now I will go like this in a regular basis:

1. Kike (CF)

2. Verdugo (LF)

3. Xander (SS)

4. Devers (3B)

5. JD (DH)

6. Shwarber (1B)

7. Renfroe (RF)

8. Vazquez ©

9. Arroyo (2B)

Duran

Muñoz

Arauz

Kevin

Marwin

Rotation

Sale

Eovaldi

Houck

Rodriguez

Pivetta

BP

Barnes

Ottavino

Whitlock

Taylor

Perez

Richards

Valdez

Offense: Elite

Rotation: Good

BP. Elite

Bench: Good

I'm assuming Sale is at least 80%, Arroyo can stay healthy and Shwarber plays 1B.

If the later is true and everyone is relatively healthy, this is a legit WS contender team.

I agree that that's their best lineup right now.

Yeah and it matches any elite lineup in baseball.

Even if you like them all better, why not trade the two, instead of DFA'ing them?

They have trade value.

The best lineup is actually with Plawecki instead of Vaz right now.

Good point but I highly doubt Alex benches Vazquez.

I'd only DFA Cordero.

You think Cordero & Plawecki have no trade value?

Plawecki s doing better than Vaz, this year.

And you're the guy who's trading Perez.

He deserves better than that.

Perez wanted to come back after 2020! That's what a great guy he is.

Posted
And you're the guy who's trading Perez.

Not DFA'ing.

I'd want to trade Perez, only if we pick up a starter via another trade.

I'm done with Richards, Andriese and Santana. Call that slash and burn, but I have an army with me.

Posted
It is the MLB trade deadline.

How many guys are we going to acquire to get past DFA'ing Andriese, Santana and Richards and maybe Rios all the way to Cordero?

Posted

I defended Perez all year, and if we don't acquire a pitcher, he's on my 13 man staff over Richards, Andriese and Rios.

The context for trading him was only if we add a better starter.

I'm not sure Perez would work well from the pen. My thought is he'd be worth more to another team as a starter than to us as a pen arm, hence the idea trading him might be best.
