OMG! A period of mourning is in order. ...Eh..... that was long enough. Time to celebrate. I just wish that he got claimed by a team that we would face.

Weber was 3rd in innings pitched last year. Ugh.

I have noticed that people are often not nice to fringe players like Weber.

Or, guys that led their team to a a 49-12 records up until May 1st, 2021, but the team has gone 4-5 in his last 9 starts.

True, the 7.63 ERA could have caused a 2-7 record, but 7 bad starts out of 9 turns the world against you.

Forget the previous 61 starts- only the last 9 count.

Can we maybe count on one of these guys to turn things around? Or, have they already started to, and we've hardly noticed?

We may just need one.

Dalbec .816 OPS in his last 10 games (3HR, 2B, 3B, 2BB)

Arroyo .858 OPS in last 13 games (3HR, 2 2B, 2BB)

Cordero is hitting .406 in AAA (1.290 OPS) with 5 HR, 8 2B, 1 3B in 16 games. (Still at AAA)

Chavis just won Player of the Week in the Sox minors:

5 G, 19 AB, 9 H, 3 HR, 5 R, 10 RBI, 3 BB, 4 K, .474/.522/1.000 (Just called up)

I have noticed that if you can throw AT ALL you are a commodity in contemporary MLB.

Batting OPS AL

1st .672 13th

2nd .816 5th

3rd .918 3rd

4th .904 3rd

5th .881 3rd

6th .664 10th

7th .562 13th

8th .745 1st

9th .558 11th

Look at the 8th spot. Yes we're #1 in AL. Twins come in second at .705. Bobby Dalbec has most AB among 8th hitters for Sox. His OPS is 1.156. Hunter Renfroe is next with 48 AB. His OPS is .875.

Just bat Dalbec 8th and his hitting woes are solved. Can someone tell Cora? LOL.

It would have been really nice to have Marcus Semien on a 1 year contract to bat lead off and play 2B.

At $18M, I assume no Kike and no Richards.

It would also work with no Kike and Ottavino.

No Kike, Renfroe, Marwin, Sawamura combined.

I don’t think This new substance rule is well thought out and it will cause a ton of controversy. I doubt that the idiot umpires can police this fairly. Mandating these checks is just asking for trouble.

Latest mock draft has Leiter dropping to Sox.

Do you go with a 6-1, 205 kid or pick his teammate who is 6-5, 245 lbs?

I gotta go with Leiter, if he drops to 4.

The guy that all of you worry about being overused leads the pen in innings pitched.

I guess I should just be thankful that our starting five does not miss a turn. Couple of them are turning into "Opener".

If Whitlock had been used as a starter, he might have been on a 100-120 IP limit.

There was a while people were worried Barnes was on pace for 80 IP- career high, but on closer inspection, since he's been doing so well, he's facedless batter and throw less pitches than his normal pace.

I've been against the 14 man staff, all year, but now, I think we may need 15, even with tomorrow off.

Maybe the extra day or two of rest will help our starters. Assuming nobody gets skipped, this might be how our starters line-up:

OFF

@KCR Pivetta +1 days rest

@KCR Perez+1 (We could start Eovaldi on normal rest)

@KCR Eovaldi +1

OFF

@TBR ERod +2

@TBR Richards +2

@TBR Pivetta +1 (Could be Eovaldi- see above)

NYY Perez +1

NYY Eovaldi +1

NYY ERod

KCR Richards

KCR Pivetta

KCR Perez

KCR Eovaldi

Red Sox have allowed 70 runs in the last 9 games yet have gone 5-4 in that stretch. The lack of sticky stuff is not just bothering the Yanks!

That includes 1 game where we let up 1 run!

69 runs in 8 of the last 9 games! (4-4 record)

I think the Yanks have won 2 games when allowing 5 or more runs all year.

We've won 4 games allowing 5 or more in the last 7 games. (3 allowing 8 runs)

Posted

We've let up 8 Unearned Runs in 15 June games.

There have also been a few runs allowed where just decent defense would have prevented them, but no error was given.

16 HRs given up in the last 5 games, and we are 3-2!

We are single-handedly changing the 1968 pace of this season into a steroid era season.

Don't you mean bare-handedly? Didn't you read Richards' comments -- we're going to see slugfests and hit by pitches the rest of the season! He didn't throw a single curveball all night; welp, there goes the analytics dept.'s reason for signing Richards; "the spin-rate, the spin-rate!" is his-tor-y.

I know and play with some pitchers who are twice as old as MLBers and have never used substances of any kind (except those they ingested). The poor pros... Btw: if it's a guy's job to throw strikes, and he can't get control his throws without rule-breaking -- thus becoming a danger to co-workers -- then he needs a new profession.

The problem is that everyone inside the game knew that pitchers were using sticky stuff for a long time. What happened is that the sticky stuff science got a little too good. That's when Manfred decided something had to be done.

Also worth noting that they changed the baseballs again this year, which seems to have also increased the spin rates. Attaboy, Rob!

I wouldn't be surprised if what we end up with is some sort of pre-approved lower-tech sticky stuff. In the meantime, it's a fustercluck.

The Jays looked scary when they shelled us in Games 2 and 3 of the last series. Since then they've lost 3 in a row and are back to .500.

This is one crazy freaking game.

The runs are piling up since they began watching for sticky substances on the baseball.

We can only pray to the Church of Baseball that these major league pitchers will be able to make adjustments so they can PLAY A GAME.

Remember in Saving Private Ryan when the corporal tries to bring his typewriter on the mission? Tom Hanks held up a pencil.
