Well said.

It's time to start taking no prisoners.

The next 15 days will help Bloom decide what needs fixing. I'm sure already has his sights on a few slots. He, opefull, just took care of two slots, today.

Moon, you're valued member here. Don't ever change. I needle you from time to time but you give us volumes of good stuff.

Nick, the feeling is mutual.

We both love this team and want the best for every player.

Boston Red Sox calling up Tanner Houck on Thursday; righty will join Jarren Duran on roster for series vs. Yankees per MassLive.

Nothing much to add......

Another I wanted to see in the team.

Love how this team is looking. Maybe we won't need to trade anybody, and Sale is still pending.

I liked the team even with Dalbec at 1b.

That said, I do think bringing up both Duran (who should play a lot) and Houck seems to be intended to help Bloom and Cora assess whether a trade is needed.

Yeah I’d rather read moon’s stuff than do actual research myself….

Cora: Houck will be used as a reliever this series and most likely start Wednesday in Buffalo against the Jays.

I think I have agreed most of the times with moon. He is a good poster, no doubt, but I do not agree with him regarding clutch and Duran lol

I think this forum always have had great posters through time. Some have gone and some have come. Some are still here.

It’s not a secret that my fav posters are still A700 (mi compadre), jung, Bell, jacko, SSDewey, and few others who doesn’t post here anymore. I’m not at their level, not even close.

I had some issues with MVP specially when username? was around but I do respect him a lot and always appreciate his explanations. I think he is one of the posters who knows better our farm.

If he can stay healthy and performs something close to 2020 he will be a huge boost for this team this season.

LOL I think I've more than positive this year, but I really think this team can win it all this year if the stars align. Every team has flaws, yeah, but ours are very fixable IMHO.

Cut out the current standings from the first 91 games and put it in a cheap frame because it's a trade month "rental. To see the 2021 leading the AL East at 55 wins (tied with Astros for most W's) will be a treat all the way through Sept when the final regular season is posted. Then we'll see how it finished. Even a .500 run, not expected nor desired gets a 91 win team and should earn a WC slot. Overall a big success for Bloom/Cora and crew , with more to come.

Interesting in the 20 round draft how the Angels, seriously in need of pitching selected 20 pitchers in their 20 slots, and even the pitching rich Dodgers ( has anyone seen Bauer lately?) took 17 pitchers. Not sure on Boston's final count but we have SS covered for the future decade or so.

Boston took 7 in the draft but the number they actually sign may be lower.

Given Boston's dismal record in developing major league ready pitchers in its farm system in the last 15 years it makes good sense to draft the best and most promising player available rather than target potential players by position.

Reading that Arroyo is working his D at 1B.

Interesting.

I guess Cora thinks Kike is one of the best defensive 2Bmen in MLB.

I don't see it, but I haven't seen him play there much.

I know Kike is a plus in CF.

If Cora thinks Arroyo is better at 1B than Kike or the net gain is better for Kike 2B/Arroyo 1B vs Arroyo 2B/Kike 1B, I trust he knows what he's doing.

Then, there is maybe calling up Cordero to take some or all of Dalbec's PAs at 1B.

Lot's still to work out.

Again, we have a very different management and player development people than even 3 years ago, let alone 15.

Schreiber is a pitcher doing well at Worcester. Schreiber in over 32 innings this season has a 2.25 ERA with 31 strikeouts and 12 walks. His highest ERA in any minor-league season is 2.76. He is not currently on the 40 man but may be an option going forward.

… or maybe Duran will play at 2B and Kike will keep his job at CF.

MVP says it is very unlikely though.

While that may be true, Bloom did not ( like the Angels) go after the best pitcher available but rather the best player available which in my view is a sounder strategy than that adopted by the Angels. Revamping the organization's pitcher development is a project that is not going to be completed in three years.

Yes, it will take longer than 3 years to start seeing the results.

It's not just drafting or acquiring the right pitching prospects; it's bout developing them.

One might say Whitlock is some evidence that this management team is better than past ones, in terms of adding better pitching prospects.

Maybe Houck is an example of improved pitching development.

Yes, it's early, but I like what I'm seeing and reading about this new group of decision-makers.

Here we are at the 2nd half of the season and I have a comment/thought. There has been a great deal or work by Moon and others to provide stats to support lineups, trade values and targets for acquisitions. The stats are essential in those discussions but I am from the old school. I like to watch the game closely for how individual players approach hitting, fielding and base running. I also like to see how pitchers attempt to get batters out. I'm interested in managers strategies and player adjustment but seldom are those things discussed? I know there is the game day thread which but I don't find a lot in that either. I know there are many knowledgeable fans on the site so am surprised that the details of the game are so rarely discussed.

If that was even a thought in Bloom's mind, Duran would have played some 2B in AAA.

I hear you, and although I do enjoy stats, I also like to enjoy and discuss the finer points of the game and the aspects data can never capture.

I'd never love this game like I do, if I never played it.

I was never good at hitting, but I got on base enough, ran well and defended very well.

I enjoy watching the game like you do. Being a stat nerd does not mean I can't see other things- not that you implied I cannot or do not.

Yes, the game threads are dominated by frustration fueled insults and lashing out.

I'd love to sit down with you to watch a game, sometime. Just us two.

I always respect your views and opinions.

That’s why I doubt he’d be at 2b, especially when they’ve had massive questions at that position the past few years.

I'm not sure they even play Duran in LF at all.

You don't throw a rookie, with not much experience even in CF to a corner OF slot without some game experience, right?

I can't remember who the poster was that felt he'd play LF once called up.

I think jung and A700 and few others like to talk about those details. They are old school posters as well.

I love to read them when they write about those details.
