@IanCundall

The Red Sox selected Tyreque Reed a 1B from the Texas Rangers in the Minor League Rule 5 phase. Reed has a big frame a huge raw. He hit .270/.365/.487 in 2019 with 18 HR. He excelled in Low-A, but struggled after a promotion to High-A where he had 28.6% K rate and 6.3% BB rate.

@redsoxstats

I believe he is an exit velocity darling. 260 pounds and puts up some big XBH numbers. Keeps the ball in the air.

Looting the Yankee system today I see...

Gotta get that heat back into the rivalry.

Also, other teams are staying away from Sox prospects.

@SoxProspects

No Red Sox were selected in the Rule 5 Draft.

Whitlock is an extreme groundball pitcher. 2.4 GB/FB and 56% GB rate were both 3rd in the Eastern League in 2019. He's 6'5 with big extension in his delivery. Low to mid 90s fastball with a slider that flashed plus at times.

Sounds better than some of the guys on staff in 2020?

Done deal.

Rays just traded their best catching prospect and have no catchers on their 40 man roster.

I'm thinking Vaz may be headed their way.

Vaz for Kiermaier & Chrinos or Yarbrough plus maybe a smaller piece. (I'd like to see Shane Baz as that third piece, as we could add Chatham or Chavis, if needed.)

The Trade Values site accepts Vaz for Kiermaier, Chirnos & Yarbrough, but I seriously doubt we'd get 2 SP'ers back.

Yonny Chirinos had TJ surgery and is expected to miss all of 2021...

The Rays did get a catcher (Heriberto Hernandez) in the Nate Lowe trade with Texas, but he is not one who is expected to stick at catcher. He's also 19 and in Low A ball...

I guess the Phillies owner wants to win now.

I don't follow the Phillies closely enough to know what they're doing, but I read that the Phillies are not spending this offseason and that they are not anywhere close to contending. I don't know what their farm system looks like, but the 'win now' philosophy doesn't seem appropriate for this team.

Yes, I got it backwards.

True, they still need a 2021 catcher.

He just offered Bloom three prospects for JD. After Bloom agreed, DD insisted he take a fourth prospect.

There is always a good market for GMs that win.

I didn't know Chrinos had TJ, but if healthy, he and Yarbrough would easily be in the Sox rotation, if this deal were done.

You are vastly over-rating Vaz or under-rating Glasnow. (BTW, Lowe was just traded to the Rangers.)

The Trade Value site has Galsnow at a value of 73 and Vaz at 21. We don't have 3 Vaz's to give for him.

My guess is the Rays would say no to Vaz for Kiermaier, Yarbrough & Fairbanks.
