Well, not exactly apples to apples.

The Sox traded one year of Betts and the rights to pay him $25million for Verdugo, Downs and Ward. Brandon Lowe has 4 years of control and has yet to reach arbitration; he is still making league minimum. These are important factors...

As you know, some of these niceties are lost on Ghost. But at least he's being affable.

Who knew that DD would be the "big one to drop"!

What's up next for the other DD, Dan Duquette?

I just read Dan's bio. Wow, did not know he and his wife have seven kids.

He had 3 other kids, but he traded them for a more expensive wife...

I wouldn't destroy what's left of our team by making any of those trades.

That's my point.

A deal for Lowe or Glasnow is impossible. I'm not sure what to call the idea of a trade for both.

Actually, the deal was set for 3, but he threw in another kid just for kicks.

Slightly more unlikely than some of the other trade proposals we have on here, that's what I'd call it. :D

What it we trade Vaz to the Rays, and take back Kiermaier in the same trade? What would that net us in value?

About negative 31, according to the Trade Values site. Vaz is +21. Kiermaier, due to his salary is -9.7. That's why we could possibly get a SP'er and more added into the deal.

We'd open a new slot at catcher but maybe fill 3 other slots: CF, SP & RP.

Well, at least we know what he's up to when not working!

Well in my predictive scenario, I asked for either Shane Baz or Shane McClanahan. Per BTV, both are actually about equal to Vaz alone before taking on Kiermaier's deal. But I went with it because it felt about right.

Now, per BTV, the Sox would be able to get either Shane plus Pete Fairbanks or RHP JJ Goss (19yo in A ball) or RHP Nick Bitsko (RHP drafted in 1st round of 2020 draft out of HS). I consider adding Fairbanks to be unresaonable...

Probably Wander Franco.

So Dan Duquette has 7 kids and lives in Sandwich, Mass. There has to be a future Red Sox executive somewhere in that brood.

It'd be funnier if he lived in Mashpee.

He seems more like a Chatham kinda guy though.

I think Bloom is more reasonable that that. It's not like the trade of Workman.Hembree to Philly fell apart because they would not include Spencer Howard or Alec Bohm....

This signing may make Wilson's DFA more likely.

It's like me sitting next to a piece of pizza. Am I gonna eat it or am I gonna eat it. Very likely!

Fine, throw Glasnow in there too, but give them Chavis to make up the difference.

Done!

See how easy trades get when you don't let one side negotiate...

Maybe, but it is an MiLB deal so no 40 man moves are necessary just yet...

Think they'll throw in the pool of rays too?

Vaz

for

Kiermaier

Chirinios

Yarbrough

I guess Chirinos just had TJ surgery, so maybe Fairbanks or Anderson (throw in Chavis or Chatham).

So Bloom drafted a Yankee pitching prospect; does anyone else ever think NY (media, fans, franchise) may overrate their minor leaguers a tad, almost as much as Boston?

You know it's a cold stove season (so far) when MLB Trade Rumors Red Sox' top story is Casey Kelley, ex-prospect, just signed with Minnesota via Korea...

Yes, I'm assuming we eventually sign someone to the 40 man roster and need to make room.

My guess is we add 3-5 players to the 40 man roster. We may trade some away to make room, but I'm thinking we will end up DFA'ing 2-3 guys by opening day- maybe more.

There's also the Pedey situation.

I think the general consensus is that the Yanks have a good and especially deep farm system. It's no surprise they had more than one player chosen in the rule 5 draft and minor league draft.
