The ooohing and ahhing over Verdugo might be a little over done. He has a whopping 8 RBI to go along with his 5 HRs. Shaking head.

Seriously, you look at the rest of this team and you're actually criticizing Verdugo?

Verdugo stealing third with 2 outs and the potential tying run batting tells you all you need to know about this mustard man. It's great to have enthusiasm and energy but lugging around his gold chain 99 along with his gold plated sliding mitt makes him basically a jerk.

You don't have to kiss 700hitter's butt all the time. Hell, he's a bigger pessimist than I am.

Anyone can hustle when a club is winning and teammates demand similar unified effort. But it's hard even for the stars to bring energy to a nightly lost cause. That's why there'll always be a spot in the lineup for a guy like Verdugo... who threatens to be great someday surrounded by the talent of a contender.

For all the gnashing and wailing of teeth about Mazza, he really didn’t pitch that badly. Two bloop hits in the first led to a run. Horrible luck on the Hicks grounder hitting the bag in the 2nd. Torres gets a 60 foot squibber ahead of the one truly bad pitch he made. I’m not saying he was great, but I’d give him another shot.

Weber got hit harder but got some at’em balls.

So it's too soon to call him Mazza-rotty?

You really had to work for that one.

Only walked one guy too, which is a marked improvement over anything they’ve thrown out there lately.

I remember Manny was a 'jerk' on more than a few occasions. So, yup, let's get rid of Verdugo because 'jerks' will not be helpful to the SOX.

Nope, it was very easy. Just about as easy as hitting off Mazza.

I am just being real about him. He looks good compared to the rest of the dumpster fire.

The SOX streak is in jeopardy, but they've got the right guy on the mound to keep it alive.
We may just have to settle for getting more comfortably under .300.

Can’t always look at results. Mazza had some bad luck and gave up several soft hits. The one by Hicks sums up this season though.

He looked good enough to give him another start. He may well pitch himself into oblivion. He didn’t do that tonight.

Mazza is not a major leaguer. It is that simple.

Actually, I did post earlier that RR would probably give him another start. 4 runs in 3 innings with this staff probably makes him a #3.

Probably not, but at least tonight, he wasn’t horrible.

Let’s face it, “not a major leaguer” describes at least half the staff, and 2-3 other guys are borderline.

The fact that we can even use Verdugo's name in the same sentence with Manny shows how far the Sox have fallen.

the streak is over!

Roenicke’s super inspiring pre game pep talk did the trick!

A team meeting, then two more Ls. The Sox have lost seven in a row and try to avoid another 4-game sweep Monday

Philadelphia A’s had a .235 winning % in 1916. Let’s get under that.
