Yeah, there are a lot of good and exciting players that we rarely or never get to see because they play in the NL. I don't know if the Sox were scheduled to play the Dodgers this year, but I'd also be very interestd to see Betts and Price play against their former team.

We were not. We just played them last year. I went to one of those games. I was sitting down the RF line and Cody Bellinger hit an absolute moonshot that was still rising when it went past us, and we were sitting about even with the Pesky Pole! I also got to see AJ Pollock play in person for the first time. He went to my HS.

MLB Interleague has a 3 year cycle. Each year you play an entire division from the other league, as well as a home and home your designated interleague rival. So, the Mets play the Yankees, Cubs and White Sox, Dodgers and Angels, A's and Giants, and so on. Ours has alternated between the Phillies and Braves, since we don't technically have an NL team close enough to us to really consider a rival. Last year we played the NL West, with a home and home against the Phillies. This year, we would have played the NL Central, and next year, we will play the NL East. We'll have to wait until 2022 to play the Dodgers again, and who knows what either team will look like at that point

If Mike Hargove was still playing, his walkup song would be "Ina Gadda Da Vita". And we'd get through the whole thing. Possibly twice...

Hargrove's nickname was the Human Rain Delay, stepping out every pitch and taking so long getting back in the box. He'd fit right in with today's stallers.

I just made up a new rule: no video replays, except for home run calls or plays at the plate -- and then, only during the postseason.

No audio replays, either; each batter better have four walk-up songs ready per game. Hargrove's second at bat would be "Riders on the Storm".

As much as I like Riders on the Storm, Hargrove could also just use all of 2112 by Rush as a walkup song, too....

Now you got me playing "Mountain Jam" in my crumbling gray matter; wasn't it like 2/4ths of "Eat A Peach"?

Hargrove is still adjusting his batting gloves -- wait, was velcro invented then? He's at least scooping dirt and digging a foothold.

I used to shoot pool in a place that had a juke box with whole albums. I used to pick Mountain Jam, so my money would go farther.

LOL

Thanks. I was vaguely aware of all of that, but I couldn't remember who we played last year. I always thought that the forced rivalries between some teams was kind of stupid. It makes sense for some teams like the two NY teams, but doesn't make much sense for other teams.

Well, Velcro wasn’t invented at the start of that at bat...

I think Mike Hargrove's walk-up music would have to be really annoying, to prepare you for the torture he was about to inflict.

ESPN Agrees To KBO Broadcast Deal

By Steve Adams | May 4, 2020 at 9:31am CDT

After several weeks of negotiation, ESPN has reached an agreement with Korean media counterpart Eclat to broadcast Korea Baseball Organization games. The KBO announced that ESPN will be airing one game per day, beginning with tomorrow’s contest between the Samsung Lions and the NC Dinos (Twitter link via Jee-ho Yoo of South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency).

Tomorrow marks the official season opener in South Korea, where the KBO is hopeful that it can squeeze in a full 144-game season despite starting about six weeks late due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Games will begin without fans in attendance.

More to come.

It's not the MLB, but it's live baseball and might tide us over until the MLB returns.

Everyone pick your favorite team. I'm going with the Doosan Bears because they're supposed to be good and I know nothing else about the KBO. LOL

Lots of Kim's and Lee's. Hard to botch those.

I don't know any teams or any of the players, so right now it doesn't interest me that much either. But if I watch for a couple of weeks, I will start getting more and more into it.

Unfortunately, these games are not showing up on my guide yet, so I can't set my DVR.

That's as good a reason as any to pick a favorite.

You gotta love how Asian baseball teams go by the name of their sponsor rather than cities. It's like Little League in the USA...

Hello, Hank Haney!

(Thunder should get that joke.)

We need to resurrect Harry Carey to broadcast these games. It would be so much easier for him. "Lee spelled backwards, is eel." Much easier than watching him try that with Andres Galaragga...

Saying "Lee spelled backwards, is eel" these days will get you a Twitter backlash and probably fired.

Not for Harry Carey. He spelled any name backwards regardless of the race of the player and certainly with no regard for the complexity of the name. He was all about Equal Opportunity...

I watched a bit of the game on ESPN last night. I recognized a few former MLB players, including Aaron Altherr (had him in fantasy during his brief hot streak a few years ago), as well as Tyler Saladino and former Oriole Hyun Soo-Kim
