Happy 13th Anniversary to “here comes the pizza!”

One of the funniest things ever. This is why we need Remy and Orsillo.

So did anyone do any fantasy drafts or auctions before everything shut down?

The league that I usually play in did their draft right before the season started, even though they knew there would be no baseball for a while.

I guess they are all set if baseball does start up.

My two favorite Remy and Orsillo moments were the praying mantis and Judge Judy and the donuts!

I vaguely remember the praying mantis. I don't really remember seeing the Judge Judy / donuts moment, though I remember reading about it. I'm sure they were both hilarious.

I had a new league firm this year as my AL Only and NL Only leagues just became one mixed league. My regular league just collapsed, denying my chance to 3-peat...

I wanted my fantasy league, entering its 30th season, to hold the auction as scheduled on March 14 but I was overruled by other owners.

The joke is that I'm always ready to hold the auction in October for the following season.

Bummer on not being able to 3-peat.

Who do you play with? Work? Friends? Random people?

I joined a league at work about 10 years ago when they kicked out a father-son duo for cheating and needed replacements. Half of that league was from Illinois, but the other half was in Arkansas, so I never met any of them (except one guy I met at a wedding).

Right now all I have is an 11 (yes, eleven) team roto league with most of those same people. We drafted mid March and obviously, nothing since...

I am not playing this year. I played for several years with Dem Yanks league (from the old board), took a year off, then got talked into coming back. So I played a couple more years. I wasn't going to play last year, but played in honor of our late friend PinstripeZac.

In short, my heart hasn't been in it for several years now. I'll take some time off and see if my interest in playing returns.

LOL I'm guessing fantasy leagues will open back up once (if) the league starts back up?

Thirty years is a long time for a fantasy league run! That must be a great group of people to play with. Who do you play with?

Cool. I don't know how you guys do your draft and so on, but with all the conferencing tools out there now, like Zoom, you could have 'face to face' drafts and other league meetings if you wanted to.

We just use Yahoo.

I often draft on my phone, which has a lot fewer drafting tools than a laptop or PC. But I usually put a good team together anyway.

Did you draft or auction already?

The league drafted sometime in late March, before Opening Day was supposed to be.

So you drafted even after the shutdown. We auctioned before.

I’m starting g to like auctions more than drafts for baseball...

The fantasy league started in our office in 1991. I joined the office in 1996 and the league in 2001.

We've watched our families grow up. A charter member's son, born in 1992, now covers an NBA team as a sportswriter for a major metropolitan newspaper. We currently have a couple of youngsters in their 40s but most of our fantasy owners are in our 60s and 70s.

We went to an online auction for the first time only last year although all but one of us still gathered in person. The final owner has been Skyped in from Puerto Rico for the past six or seven years, even when we were still announcing our bids out loud.

I've never been in a league where they did auctions.

That's awesome. I'm sure you guys have a lot of fun and have made a lot of good memories along the way.

MLB Network is doing a tribute to Patriot's Day today, including the first game at Fenway after the Marathon Bombings, which was the epic David Ortiz' "this is our f***ing city" game. It's airing at 11:00 am and again at 11:00 pm.

Although that wasn't on Patriots Day, it was on this date in 2013. Fun fact.

My aunt from OH is an Guardians fan, and use to have season tickets at the Jake. She usually comes home to CT twice a year (at least) to visit my aging grandmother, and she would have come this weekend, with the Guardians at Fenway for the holiday weekend. Despite the still relatively cold weather, that would have been fun. I was at the game the day before the Marathon bombings. Patriots Day Weekend is a special time to be in Boston. Obviously, nobody could have known what would happen on Marathon Monday that year

Benches clearing brawl in Taiwan. So much for social distancing. LOL

Well, Taiwan is on the short list of countries that got the spread of the virus under control quickly...

The second a batter steps in the box, social distancing is out the window.

If the catcher and umpire masks had a sheet of plexiglass behind the cages, there you go. COVID-safe baseball....

I don't think social distancing is the problem with resuming baseball. Spitting is the problem. And then there are players who like David Wells specialized in the nose rocket. I always felt that was a health menace.
