Predicting the Yankees to win 104 games and capture the division by 9 games. I like it.

Quick reminder, that was last year which has nothing at all to do with this year.......

I disagree. The two teams are pretty similar to last year's teams, so it only makes sense to use last year's records as a starting point.

Predicted standings

1) New York Yankees: 104-58

Not really.

So you just throw out last year completely like it never happened when you do projections, is that it? I don't even know exactly what you're saying.

His only projection is YANKEES GUD SOX TEAM BAD.

If there was only a hint of humor or irony, his/her posts could be enjoyable. Alas, we're stuck with this.

pretty sure your (or was it jacksonianmarch) whole argument is that the yankees have drastically improved since LAST year's team and the Red Sox lost their 2 best relief pitchers from LAST years team.......

but maybe thats not right?

He had the same injury Pedroia had. His knee will always be an issue. Rely on wright as much as you’d expect to rely on Pedey

Justin Turner also has the same injury and surgery as Pedroia and Wright and didn’t miss a beat...

If Pedey was a Yankee, we'd have heard about JT over and over.

I think you need to speak with jacko about that, I don't recall stating that.

But again, just because last year's team won 108 games does not make that the base line for this year. One has nothing to do with the other.

Not baseball related but robert kraft just got busted in a Florida prostitution/sex trafficking ring!

He's always been a scumbag. It was very evident after his wife died and he started bringing around a younger gal during the same time he was basically selling the death of his wife.

what does the award winner Dan Clark think?

Dan Clark is definitely NOT a nobody. He is an IBWWA member. It cost him $75! He wrote for MASN in guest blogs! He's a real person who doesn't make anything up!

Today, we sit at $238M, we have around $8M+ to plug the holes. My guess is $238M may drop as a player or two maybe cut.

Our starting rotation is one of the best as we start the season.

Our lineup is deeper than last year's.

We still have the best manager in AL East.

No target on our backs thanks to Yankees being crowned pre-season favorite.

Perfect. Let the season begin.

Well said.

$8M might not seem like a lot, but it is at the trade deadline. We can trade for 2 guys making $12M each and their prorated portions will be $4M (1/3 season) x 2 players = 8M total.

That's nonsense. The first place anybody looks is last year's record. Then you assess what has changed or what changes there may be. It's pure common sense.

Which is not the same as saying that any projection system will be accurate, because obviously there will always be a lot of uncertainty.

There is some uncertainty as to whether it will be 4 or 5 straight division titles for the Sox.

Almost certainly a catcher will be traded or cut. Not a large salary reduction, but they all open a little leeway.

If we dump a catcher somehow, we'll have Lin ready at AAA to come up if anyone but a catcher or 1Bman gets hurt, but we have very little, decent minor league depth after Lin.

C: Centeno, O Hernandez

1B: Travis, Ockimey (Chavis)

2B: Renda

SS: M Hernandez (starting season on DL--again!)/Chatham (AA)?

3B: Chavis (Dalbec AA)

OF: Travis? Brentz?

Marco Hernandez may have lost his chance to come up to the Sox. So many injuries and time away may have severely lessend his chance. Chatam is no power guy, but he is a decent fielder and line drive hitter and may be ready to come in as a sub. Lets hope we don't need a sub for Devers this year. He is in better shape and may just become a star. If he does, the Sox become even more formidable. We have 2 at first this year with solid possibilities going forward including Casas. Catcher could be an issue going forward, but it still no reason to keep three. We really have no outfield backup, Maybe Lin is our best current fill in. I think Travis will be gone.

I agree. Travis will be gone at some point. Marco can be put on the 60 day DL for one last hurray chance.

I'm fine with trading Swihart or DFA'ing him for Pedey (Lin), but personally, I think this...

Swihart > Centeno at C (May just be slight)

Swihart> Chavis/Ockimey at 1B

Swihart > Lin in the OF (LF and move Beni)

Swihart may even be better at 3B.

As for the OF, in an emergency we have a ton of guys on the 25 man roster that can play LF. If JD is DH, we wouldn't want to lose the DH for a game, but he can play corner OF, if someone misses a few games. In-game OF emergency subs could be Holt, Moreland, Pearce and Nunez.

Who the hell cares what Kraft does in his bedroom? If he is not married any more he has every right to seek companionship wherever he can find it and its pretty obnoxious of anyone to judge him for it. Even if he were married, thats not something that should concern any of us: it would be ONLY between him and his wife. To label him a "scumbag" for seeking companionship at age 77 - or at any other age for that matter- is the height of sticking your nose in where it doesn't belong.
