And I don’t buy that this is a “rest” stint. No way that he hits the DL a second time for a shoulder issue due to rest. They’d pick something less concerning for his future earnings or else he wouldn’t admit to it. Like another poster said, hammy, blister, etc. A recurrent shoulder issue will scare down his earnings come 2020

Yeah, I don't think they'd be scaring the bejeebers out of everyone like this if it was purely a phantom DL rest stint.

The question arises, however, is this normal wear and tear on his shoulder that he typically pitches through? Or is this a much more serious injury he needs a prolonged recovery from?

And it's a great question.

And the answer is - he's going to get that recovery regardless of whether or not he needs it, thanks to the Sox 9.5 game lead in the division and 12.5 game lead over the closest rival division leader hoping for home field advantage..

We'll see not next start, the start after that. Does he need more time? Or does he lose velocity? Edited by OH FOY!

Agree, Pats have a Wide Receiver Kenny Britt, who hurt his hammy in May, hasn't been on field since. Rehabbing it. Perfect phantom injury.

He looked mighty strong after his last DL stint. I wonder, if he felt so good that he over threw a bit.

Sale certainly seems like a guy who would find it very difficult to dial back even a little.

This time last year C.S. had 169 innings at this point. This year 146 innings. Just wish they didn't use the word "Shoulder".

Agree!

I'm just glad we can give him rest, now.

Let's hope it's what the doctor ordered, and it works.

E-Rod is scheduled to Pitch for Portland tonight in Rehab. So that helps. Facing a good team too for Double AA, New Hampshire. Edited by OH FOY!

Erod coming back healthy and STAYING healthy would be YUUUUUUUGE.

It very definitely helps, and thanks for the update. Slasher9 says a healthy and competent ERod could be huge, and I entirely agree. He has an excellent repertoire which is very effective when he has command of his pitches.

Is Wright ever coming back? Perfect partner for Sale's 5 innings. Then Wright goes 3 and then a closer.

Kimbre;; is fading, too; anybody notice?

I like your idea about Wright but you've got to admit that it'd be difficult for Cora to pull Sale if he's breezing - which he usually is. :D

The last I heard there is no firm timetable for Wright. Too bad, too. He'd be our #3/4 guy for the playoffs and able to come in in relief if needed.

Kimbrel's numbers certainly aren't what we're used to. What used to be a sure thing has now devolved into how much trouble can he get into - and out of now. I miss Koji!

How about Wright going through the 9 batters, then bring in Sale.

I wonder if they’re gonna push Sale to get an MRI. Now in the general population, you’ll find a high percentage of people with shoulder tears that are asymptomatic. If they find something, they’ll need to decide if it’s the cause or just a harmless incidental

our medical staff is the worst in the f***ing history of medical staffs. why on earth wouldnt we have him get an MRI to begin with? listen, when your ACE goes on the f***ing DL for the same shoulder 2 stints in a row perhaps you should f***ING GIVE HIS SHOULDER EVERY TEST KNOWN TO MANKIND????!!!!????

how does this not make sense?????

f***ing idiots.

I’m chipper? Not really. Just lost our starting SS for a bit too and Judge is gonna take the whole six weeks to return. Soon, we’ll be inviting Scranton to play in our stead

but where are the boat of prospects?

We started the year with IF depth. The problem is, our IF depth became our starters and then we dealt away Drury who was solid depth. You don’t replace a SS of Didi’s caliber on the fly. We likely move Walker back to 2b, Torres to SS and move Stanton to RF

Sale could either be fine or injured. It's like that Shrodinger's cat thing. They don't want the MRI because they fear what it may reveal.

I think they are just sitting him on a phantom DL stint so that he can win a ring in October.

Why would you call it his shoulder? You have to sign off on a DL stint. Why would he sign off on his shoulder being the cause? It’ll cost him millions if there’s a shoulder concern a year plus before he tests the market
