But given the Sox lead, is there any reason to rush him back?

Maybe if the hapless Yankees had whittled the lead down to 3 games by now, Sale’s timeline might look a little different...

LOL Love it.

It probably will affect his Cy Young chances.

That said, if Sale puts his Cy chances ahead of the team's WS chances, that is not a guy that I would want on my team.

On a related note, Sale would make $1M more next year, if he wins the Cy Young.

That's a fair incentive for Sale, but I'm sure that he would still much rather have the WS ring over the Cy Young award.

I'm confused once again. Why would anyone plant the suggestion that Chris Sale would place his chances of winning a Cy Young award over a World Series title? Chris Sale is a gamer - the kind of team player that coaches dream about. He wants to pitch and that is it. I think that he probably has a pretty good idea of how valuable he is to his team. Since coming to Boston, if he has once given anyone any idea that he might be a selfish player, I must have missed it.

he did it just last year with the 300 k's.......

No, Farrell did.

come on Moon. you know better than that. that was 100% chris sale. JF was just the idiot that went along with it and allowed him to do it. but those bullets sure would have been nice to have in October......

No, I firmly believe JF had a warped sense of doing what he felt made the players happy but the team worse. This wasn't the only time he did this. His failure to demote struggling stars in the line-up was another major blunder.

I seriously doubt Sale went to JF and asked for the chance to get 300.

(I could be wrong.)

40 pitches that's it. And you don't think he doesn't have something going on with his Shoulder? Trying to build his arm this late in the season. I am concerned. Just pray he has no pain, in a couple of days after this start.

I don't think it's 100%. But I think if this were a life and death struggle, Sale would have pitched more.

So it was the pitcher's fault he stuck out 300? Is he supposed to try less hard to save himself? I too see it as the manager's decision on how many innings his ace threw.

Ya ok Slash - Another good one! You rascal you. I can just hear Sale saying right now - screw all you guys I'm the man and i want my 300 and I don't give a s*** about how the team does. Really Slasher - How does this absolute ******** even start? Is it because people are bored and just want to drop a few names or what?

i mean...i said it at the time it was happening last season. that said....i dont think Sale was thinking he was going to burn his arm getting the 300 and have almost nothing left for October. i believe a guy like Sale thinks he can be dominant 365 days a year. thats the mentality that i want in my ACE. so yeah, i 100% believe Sale wanted the 300. and like i said in my previous post...it was JF's job to not allow it to save those bullets for October.

PLEASE don't tell me that ESPN is going to step in and change the game time for that matchup. I've had all the ARod I can stand for one season.

In fact, last Sunday it was only a couple of innings before I switched over to 'Stiggy & Neveritt. The delay between radio and tv wasn't pleasant but it was better than the ESPN bunch.

As ex-players go, A-Rod is actually pretty good in the booth. I've lived through Joe Morgan up there, and, while he's probably a very nice guy, Rick Sutcliffe is so boring he could take the excitement out of an orgasm.

But if you cannot handle the man out of pinstripes, I suggest doing what all Celtics' fans did in the 1970's and 1980's. Turn off the TV volume and turn up the radio...

I did. I will. Not only because I'm tired of the Yankee bag-sucking that goes on there, but because their coverage sucks. I don't turn on a baseball game to hear what color cotton candy is being consumed in the third row of section 13, and taking a full half inning to talk about it, and ignoring the game while they do it.

Not sure why the delay is on radio games. That would have ruined Johnny Most for me.

I don't know how the radio & tv match up on other sports but there's sometimes a significant lag between the radio and tv for the Sox. Strangely it seems to vary between 5 and 10+seconds with radio first. No idea why, but it lets me pay half-attention to the tv until something happens on the radio, then I ... wait for it.

When the radio is ahead, it gets very frustrating. For example if their play-by-play tells me a hitter strikes out chains a down and away pitch, I find myself close to yelling at the TV as the pitcher throws the ball "DON'T SWING!!"

is it possible to pause the radio if you are streaming it through the interweb?

I stream the weei radio feed through MLB app and it is pretty close to my directv tv feed. i just have to pause the tv for a couple seconds to sync them up....i figured this out last sox v yanks series and im super psyched about it as i can now do this 18x a year instead of having to listen to those slugs on YES....

ARod is a giant dork - which works on the broadcast.

I have such a strong dislike for ARod that I just can't stand listening to him. He could be the greatest analyst in the world, and I would find him nauseating.

I'm not sure anyone can top Harold Reynolds for talking pure jaw-dropping nonsense. Last night or the night before he was raving about how overrated OBP is.

Worse, he sucks as an analyst. He adds zero.

I think the Jays announcing tandem of Buck Martinez and Pat Tabler are good. Buck can be a little annoying at times but they both know their stuff. And if the Red Sox are beating up on the Jays they don't whine about it, they give credit to the Sox.

I like this one - Why don't you just say stuff like this the first time through! I agree with everything you said. That's the problem with the internet and forum boards. I'll bet that you and I and at least 3 other people here operate on the same page most of the time! LOL Keep em coming my friend.

I made the same comment earlier in the year. After watching the NESN coverage for the first time all year I couldn't believe how cheesy the ESPN coverage was. As you said too many side shows, too much in the booth interviews in the middle of an inning. Just call the damned game and cut out the fluff.
