I would normally think that this is the Sox giving Sale an extra week of rest without having to sacrifice a spot on the 25 man roster. But no way they would rest him with the Yanks-Sox series coming up unless it's actually an issue. Only 10 day though, doesn't sound serious.

There's either 10 or 60 days DL for injuries.

shoulder inflammation

Depending on what happens in the NYY series, I'd give him all the time he needs to feel right. Knowing his personality , he will probably push to come back in 10 days.

Considering the number of times shoulder damage is a prelude to TJS.... I think it's pretty safe to say that the Nation is on high alert right now.

Not TJS. You don’t see shoulder pain associated with it. But you can see cuff issues as well as labrum issues

I know you're wishing for the worst, condescending troll, but sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

Btw, Happ has been quarantined with hoof & mouth disease. He probably caught it from Cash Cow.

So this leads to the following question; if Johnson is taking his spot for the Thursday start and Velasquez pitched last night, who will be coming in to get the last 22 outs tonight?

Not hoping for the worst at all. If we beat you guys, I want to beat you with Sale

You're fooling nobody. You want to beat us end of. You're loving this news. And you can't be blamed for that.

Good question. They may force Pomeranz to stay in there no matter what and just take the loss.

Good news on Rodriguez:

The Sale thing doesn't seem very serious.

I never knew anyone who got this disease, and now 2 NY pitchers have it Syndegard and Happ.

I hope he's ok, this is coming from a Yankee fan who loves the rivalry

If the Yanks beat the Sox I want that to be with the best players in both teams

Why do people feel compelled to say this ********? I'm sure you'd be sobbing if you guys kick beat us in both of Sale's starts and win the Pennant. Okay.

I'm just returning the good vibes from true Sox fans when they learned Judge was injured, like them I like the game and don't want to see any player injured.

Don't get me wrong, I hate to see this guy kicking the crap out of my yanks but I respect him big time, a great professional and one of the elite pitching talents in the league for a few years now

Hopefully, it is a precautionary maintenance action and that it will keep him fresh down the stretch.

It might keep him fresh down the stretch, but Sale is one of those guys who really wants to be out there on the mound. If he is complaining about shoulder pain, it's something to worry about. So I agree with your "hopefully."

You just don’t know. Even if they MRI him and it’s clean, you just don’t know. Shoulders are tricky. I’d take far more stock in his next start and the velocity he shows than any speculation. If he comes off the DL at 10 days and is topping out at 91, I’d say he’s got something bad in there. If he returns and is hitting 100, then I’d say it was precautionary
