Quite literally one page apart. I think its clear who has the confused mind.

The fact one of your first thoughts was to even a score with somebody just after we had won the WS says all we need to know. But hey, like I say. That's fine. It's your personality.

I'll leave you to this odd bitterness. I don't enjoy speaking to you at the best of times, but it's even worse when you're struggling to keep up with your own words, never mind mine.

Hey, you are the one that characterized my initial post as "weird". Take some responsibility. I decided to f*** with you after that, but you can't get that. The sequence of posts has eluded you. LOL!

Ease up there Ted. Theo is an excellent GM. No need trying to trash him to make Dave look better. They can both be excellent.

Theo wore out his welcome. Thankfully we found a suitable replacement. Ben did a good job in 2013, but he let management run over him in the 2014 offseason. DUMBrowski has been great by me. How can you complain with 3 straight division titles and a WS title?

We will never know the back story of why Theo left. The only ill will that I hold against Theo is that he took some good people with him. I'd rather have had Hoyer as our GM than Ben, but then we wouldn't have gotten DD who brings winning and exciting moves. I think he will get us another new shiny toy this offseason. He is not the type to stand pat. I mentioned on here in July that Kennedy said in a private meeting that they were interested in Harper. I am not that guy's biggest fan, but I like him better than Machado. We probably will not get either of them, but DD thinks big and looks for impact guys, not just under the radar value plays. He also does the under the radar deals, as he did with Eovaldi (definitely worth Beeks) and Pearce. Who did he give up for Pearce? Barring devastating numerous injuries, I think DD will field another kick ass team.

Nice to see that the offseason fights are well underway. Should be a good one!

There'll be no more of it from me. I'll be ignoring him from here on out. To paraphrase Mr Gillum "Never wrestle with a pig. You both get dirty, but the pig likes it."

Let's hope so. I have little confidence that you can stick to your word.

Putting people on ignore is never a bad idea.

I love that quote.

I agree. And I won't fret over the winning % in the minors.

Hid biggest deals all look good, now: Price, Sale & JD. They certainly blow HRam & Pablito away, but it's the in-season under the radar deals that I'd like to see DD do more of.

Beeks for Eovaldi

Espinal for Pearce

The Brasier signing in March.

The Nunez, Fister, Abad and Reed deals last year.

Actually Hoyer left long before Theo so he could be GM of the Padres and build his new career based upon repeatedly trading for Anthony Rizzo...

But Theo got him back when he went to the Cubbies.

As Sox fans, we’ve been lucky enough to have 3 GMs who did a lot of good for this team. Sure, each has made their bad deals. But that’s part of that job. DD May have made fewer than the others, but his tenure is shorter and, let’s face it, our evaluation of deals does change over time. To many, Price was a bad deal as recently as a few months ago...

Yup, exactly that. Some of the moves people criticised Cherington for turned out to be a huge part of us dominating this year and picking up the Championship.

Tenures are always best reviewed a few years later. But there's little patience for that sort of thing.

..and Pom was a good deal...

...and Kimbrel was a great deal...

Yes, the 1 year of a possibly disgruntled Lackey for 5 years of Kelly looks better now than a year ago.

The 2 months of Miller for many years of ERod deal looks great now.

Peavy for Hembree, well, maybe a little better.

A probable lost Lester for Porcello via Cespedes looks better than after his first year here.

Melancon for Holt...

Moreland was a good deal just based on his defense.

1B is primarily a big offensive position. I'm already hearing a poster say we should get a FT 1Bman this winter.

Moreland fell off a cliff two years in a row. Last year, we blamed the foot injury. This year, hardly anybody wanted him playing in the playoffs, even against a RHP.

It was a good deal, then a bad deal, then good again.

2017: .689 in his last 77 games (283 PAs)

2018: .578 in his last 61 games (227 PAs)

he is a very good PH, but a terrible second half player.

My opinion of Mitch Moreland is that Steve Pearce was an amazing acquisition for the Red Sox.

DD was wise to go all in this year. He made some great moves which were augmented by some good fortune.

Only the Nats and Sox were over the tax this year. I suspect 2018 will look like a rare year that the NYY and LAD put dollars over rings. Their fiscal choices were multifactorial, and great for the Sox. Great time for DD to pounce.

The $250m 2019 NYY will be a much harder foe.

Another bit of luck was that JD had no other destination. Hence the below expectations contract.

DD is a Sox legend now for life, and deserves massive plaudits. That said a bit of good fortune never hurts.

Dombrowski hit a grand slam this year.

Cora

JDM

Eovaldi

Pearce

He did, indeed. While JD got a big contract, 5 years is really nothing for the caliber of player we got. As I believe you know, finding guys like Eovaldi and Pearce, not to mention Brasier, is what makes a great GM IMO. I'm more impressed with these kinds of under the radar moves than I am with acquiring the all stars.

I still do not like what Dombrowski did to our farm, but I have said many times that if we won the World Series, it would all be worth it.

In my eyes, Dombrowski redeemed himself this year. Not that he needed redemption from me.

Despite his error in Game 3, I think bringing in Kinsler solidified 2B during the season. Kinsler was a solid veteran who helped the Sox win. Dave also signed Ryan Braiser.

Kinsler was a very solid pick up as well.

other teams would have killed for the cost controlled talent that was already here - the team had holes, but the cupboard was hardly bare. Dombrowski has been outstanding.

Thanks Ben!

But at least you all have me.

I am happy to say that I have been a fan of the Kelly trade and of the Porcello signing since day one.

I was also a fan of the Castillo signing, which doesn't look like it has any chance of turning around for us.

I'm happy to be wrong on Porcello. I thought we'd never see a return on that level of investment.

FACT!

So Dave doesn't even budge after the team had the dream season, and one of the greatest seasons in baseball history.

Honestly i agree with kimmi. Theo built and then rebuilt the team, and unlike Ben hasn't yet had to pay the piper and try to Rebuild.

DD is good but Theo is one heck of an act to follow

Oh yes, Dave has budged quite a bit.

The gap between Ben and Dave is much smaller than it was.
