I was hoping for the Red Sox feed. Like the team, our announcers are wretched. ( Mad Hungarian, McCarver et. al) :(

When did athletes become so fragile? I can't take it!
When weight lifting became popular, I would surmise.

OMG Cards look like the Keystone cops out there....WTF Norris hurt himself too!??

Though, he's better than most team's emergency 3rd catcher.

Teams generally don't have an emergency catcher sitting on an MLB bench.

Sam Travis with his second HR of the day

I have a totally unscientific observation.

I can not recall a game in which Travis played ( that I saw ) in which he did not get a hit.

There's been talk of Travis working with Tim Hyers to adjust his swing more towards hitting the ball in the air. If he starts manifesting some legitimate power at last, the first base situation is going to become even more interesting...

Pom had early exits from his starts due to some type of 'tightness' several times last season, including once in spring training. It ended up okay each time. Hopefully, it's more precautionary than anything else.

I think that he also had a platelet injection in his elbow during Spring training last year.

Two thoughts. It seems to me that more often than not when a guy starts tinkering with his swing it ends up disastrous. I remember Garrin Cecchini doing that years ago because the knock was his swing was level and he didn't have the power to justify being a MLB player. Sometimes it's hard to change the mechanics that got you to where you are and have the same level of success on the worlds biggest stage.

I'm sure it can be done, and if Travis has it in him he could be a monster.

I'm of the same thinking-don't tinker too much. But apparently a lot of hitters were successful in changing their launch angle to hit more home runs, which was, supposedly, one of the big factors in the long ball increase.

Admittedly, I have very little clue how often a guy is able to make over his swing and be successful. But I know some have done it, and others were not.

I guess a little optimism can't hurt, it's spring training after all.

Lance Lynn's agent is also monitoring this closely. ..

I read that Cora wants to see Bogaerts become a power hitter. That statement is a little concerning to me. The last thing I think we need is for Bogaerts to be at the plate trying to hit home runs. I think Bogaerts can be a very good hitter with decent power, but I do have the concern that he (and other guys) will try too hard to hit more home runs. I think that was their biggest problem last season - trying to do too much.

At the moment, nobody seems too concerned about it. OTOH, I remember ERod's '3 day' injury lasting 3 months, so I won't believe it until I see Pom back on the field.

As much as I like the JD signing, I still would have preferred the Sox add a top starting pitcher instead. That has always been my biggest concern for our 2018 team due to health question marks.

It's definitely Clay time.

Clay had certainly garnered his share of enemies among Sox fans. The same people who want Bryce Brentz to succeed and who think any BA top 100 prospect who flops was a wasted asset somehow can't forgive Clay for actually panning out to some degree.

A minor league deal does no harm but to some even that is too much

I don't really see the correlation between Clay and Bryce. Just me. I know that you can not be talking about me anyway because I don't remember saying much negative about the Bucksnort other than I think he might be a numbskull. I also don't think in anyone's case it is a matter of forgiving anyone for anything. I think that there are plenty of people here who have just seen enough of the Clay act and want to turn the page and move on. Good luck to both and i also am sure that others share that sentiment.

Someone's going to give Buchholz a minor-league deal at some point soon.

I'm surprised he is still out there. His has an ERA+ of 102 over the last three seasons. That's better than Alex Cobb over that same stretch. And who would complain if we brought in Alex Cobb?

I was Buch's biggest supporter on that other site.

I don't want him back.

I suppose a minor league deal can't hurt, but I'd rather we find someone else.
