My guess is they'll negotiate a settlement. The Yankees don't want him, and ARod will be far too proud to be booe on a nightly basis in his home stadium. The pressure is building. This interview tonight will be interesting as well. We'll all be able to hear what this fraud did

Release him. Hence why they should buy him out. The buyout might be, "Here's the $61 mil we owe you, don't let the door hit you on the way out!" Or it could be generated from ARods side as he states he doesn't trust NY anymore since they had the most to gain from his suspension. Not sure how it works out, but I'm pretty damn sure ARod won't play another inning for NY

You trust A-Rod's integrity far too much. He's not walking away from that money, and the Yankees would be foolish to buy him out with a lump-sum on their own.

here's a fun thought 4 U

if the yanks do save that 60 mill by staying under the cap (and make PO)

that's what it will take to buy out arod's remaining 3/61 contract ;-)

I don't see the Yankees staying under the cap. They need at least one more starting pitcher, whether it's Tanaka or one of the leftovers. Right now their rotation is Sabathia, Kuroda, Nova and ???

greetings bell

I'm not exactly on top of it but while U R right they do need to add at least 1 starter

there R some who think the 189 is still in play

edit: after reading more I agree it's a real long shot and risk

Here is where we stand on payroll. There is no way we're under the cap if we get Tanaka. No way at all. Third base is likely to be a Kelly Johnson/Eduardo Nunez platoon. 2b will be Roberts until he folds like a deck of cards. Than I'd expect a concerted effort to cover the position with Ryan, Corban Joseph and Nunez. It's gonna be interesting, that's for sure. But NY never planned on being under $189 mil coming into the offseason. If that was the case, they'd have never offered $25 mil a yr to Cano up to the end. They're surpassing it, and by a lot, IMO. I am betting that Tanaka and one of Garza/Jimenez end up in NY. I'm also betting one late inning reliever a la Rodney or Balfour end up here as well

Also, not to pile on, but who is playing second base and third base for the Yanks next year?

I definitly was surprsied/ dissapointed about how little interest the yanks have in reynolds this morning

I thought w/grandy/ K's gone having a RH 1B/3B bat with some pop would be a plus

Come on PIN, this is your team and you should know them a helluva lot better than I do. They're experts at being the CIA of baseball; say one thing, do another, then go in one direction and backtrack somewhere else. If they think they need a little more thunder offensively at third base they will sign Reynolds in two shakes of a monkey's ass.

but things R a tad different in yankeeland lately ;-)

Anyone questioning the position of MLB in this needs to see the rerun of the 60 minutes interview. Completely damning, IMO. MLB covered Bosch's security fees because ARod was threatening to kill him

Have those threats been verified, or is it just the word of Bosch?

That's the part with no corroborating testimony or evidence. The rest is pretty in depth. The schedule this guy was on and the communication is pretty damning. Also, the $49K bribe shows ARod interfering with the investigation

Scott Sizemore is a good depth pickup. We are still in need of a full time 3b, but our offense is much improved as is.

Depth? He played 2 games last season and none in 2012, and he didn't exactly tear it up in 2011, his first season.

As we get closer to pitchers and catchers reporting a month from now while our collective mouths water for some baseball we have to be subjected once again to this ******** hogging up all the news on the hard ball front. The Yankees are rich beyond their wildest dreams---just release the son of a bitch and be done with it. As long as they hold onto him this circus will never pack up and move on. Sure, it's not my $61 million or whatever the total still owed the guy but the Yankees could well afford it and it would clear the decks of this virus and, besides, A-Fraud couldn't seek redress in court because a team has the sole responsibility if they want to keep a player or not. Just do it Yankees.

This whole deal is greasy on both sides. Fred I just ignore all the crap now. I was interested in his suspension and how it impacted the Yankees on the field product. All this circus crap isn't worth the time imo.

lol.... Jacko goes to such lengths to paint everything the Yankees do as a positive. It's painful to watch sometimes.

This might be a stupid question but what does A-Fraud hope to gain by suing the MLBPA?? I really don't understand that move.

It's only a stupid question because the idea behind what A-Fraud is doing is totally stupid and there is no way to attack it but by asking stupid questions about it. It makes no sense whatsoever unless he wants to blow up his bridges front back and sideways. He's in desperation mode Mr Tibbs and right now very few of us I venture to say have any idea what is going through his alleged mind. And that's my stupid answer to what that dumb ass is doing.

It's not really a stupid question. I wondered the same thing when I heard about it.

This is my guess only. Given that A Rod is seeking relief in federal court, and the fact that the court is not likely to grant him any consideration because his union had negotiated for the arbitration process to benefit MLB players, he is strategically filling suit against the union so the court may think that the union did not protect him in his troubles with MLB. I'm not sure about any of this. I'm not even sure that I have articulated what I was thinking!

What you said is pretty much what's been said by the "pundits". He's suing the MLBPA for not providing adequate protection for him during the arbitration process.

You're not sure that you articulated what you were thinking Spud Boy? Well join the club. You don't think I was flailing away trying to respond to what Mr. Tibbs wrote? I can only believe that A-Fraud has convince himself that he has done nothing wrong and even though he knows he did, he has convinced himself that it just isn't so. Remember Spud, we are talking about the poster child for Narcissism.
