You have to make a remark even when I point out that the Yankees are in first. Then you wonder why people despise Yankee fans.

I didn't make a remark. I simply said that we were in first place, whether it be sole possession or tied. There was no nasty intent behind my post.

And not that it matters because I just explained that you misinterpreted the intent of my post, but when I typed that post and posted it, I hadn't even seen your post yet. Our posts were 3 minutes apart.

That was a definate example of you trying to pick a fight, I said nothing instigative or nasty.

only thing I have against the Crosby move is that we now have no speed off the bench. I dont understand why Torre feels the need to carry 12 pitchers. Historically, Torre's preference was 11; he has been forced to carry 12 since 2004 because of contract obligations and whatnot. It doesn't make sense that when we are able to carry 11, finally, he and Cash feel the need to promote Veras. That's nothing against Veras, just against the idea of a 12th pitcher. I mean, it's not as big a deal now as it would have been if this was done like a week ago, because of how versatile our bench is now, but still; there is no speed on the bench.

I wonder if anyone claims Crosby.

 Anyone remember when the Yankees signed Veras in November, some people (don't remember which reporter) were naming him Tom Gordan's replacement

but he did have a pretty nice debut.

Torre needs to carry 12 because he has a one out pitcher on his squad. In the past he had 5 starters and 7 relievers capable of giving him 1+ innings. Now he has a guy in Myers who is a good guy against lefties, and I think he was obtained for Papi alone, but is a drain on a pen. Hey, someone was saying my spelling was bad, how is it now?

Apparently Torre wanted a mopup guy, which I guess I understand. Hopefully it means Villone will get to pitch in more meaningful spots down the stretch. Hurts losing the pinch runner, however. Who comes off the bench now, Phillips?

didnt we send ponson to the bullpen to be the mopup guy?

The one thing I truly respect about the 2006 Yankees is their ability to come back from a bad loss. On Monday night, they had plenty of opportunities to win, they handed the ball to their closer in the 9th and they still lost the game. A bad loss against a team they are competing against in the standings. So what do they do? They come out the next night and no-hit them for 6 innings and run up a 7 run lead early. Yeah, the chisox came back, but Mo was vintage and the yankees won. Since the the yankees suffered a 19-1 drubbing at the hands of the Guardians, they have the best record in baseball (21-8). This is what good teams do, the sox should take notes.

The Red Sox on the other hand are a team that lets bad losses linger. It seems that every time they lose a heartbreaker, they take a couple days to respond, and those couple days turn into losses. The fact that they didnt take the first loss to the royAAAls personally is shocking. The fact that the royAAAls then came back and beat their stud in the pen the next night is even worse for them. What can the sox do for an encore? Will they get trounced with their ace on the hill? I'd highly doubt that, but with the way things have been going, I wouldnt be shocked.

good points.

I flipped back and forth between the games last night, and even though the Yankees blew the big lead, I felt like a comparison of the two teams right now shows dramatic differences.

Sox had plenty of chances to put away the Royals last night...bases loaded with less than 2 outs two, maybe three times?

Meanwhile, Rivera was shaky but closed the door on the CHiSox and the Yankees didn't quit after being up 4-0...they even ran a little when it was 5-0 or 6-0.

Just kinda leaves you with a bad feeling that the Sox are headed in the opposite direction...hope I'm wrong and they get hot, though.

I was watching the second game of the Royals/Sox series and was going nuts when Grudzy knocked in the run. And then I was screaming after Sweeney drove him in. That was a great game. Thank god the Red Sox can't taunt us with the fact that we got swept by KC last season.

hey we beat the angels, something new.

Yeah, hopefully if things go the way they're going we won't have to worry about them in the playoffs.

The Angels aren't making the playoffs this year, the A's will win the west.

There are alot of rumors that Dotel has been activated. I'm looking for an online source to confirm this.

Those rumors are true. They just showed Dotel in the bullpen.

Lidle has been placed on the bereavement list, Bruney took his place on the roster. Lidle will be back in time for his start against Boston.

What happened to Lidle to be put on the BL?

His grandma passed away.

He'll be back to pitch on Monday.

What happened to Lidle to be put on the BL?

Starter Cory Lidle was placed on the bereavement list after his 98-year-old grandmother died earlier this week. A player on the bereavement list cannot play for at least three days, but has to see action after seven.

Manager Joe Torre said Lidle told him about the death in the family four or five days ago, and asked if he could leave for a few days. Torre assumed he went back to his native California, but said his pitcher would be back in time to make his scheduled start Monday against the Red Sox -- meaning the Yankees won't miss a beat.

Yankee fans will need to go on the BL after Lidle pitches against Boston.
