It's okay. He's going to have plenty of room for error with Wells pitching for the Sox.
Yeah, they should probably get a couple of solo homers off Boomer.

Tyler Clippard pitched a no-no for the Trenton Thunder. Everyone talks about Hughes (for good reason) however Clippard is a pretty good prospect in his own right.:

Good for him.

I am guilty of over-hyping him as he is one of my favorite Yankee prospects, so this makes me particularily happy

I dont know about over-hyping him. The only reason why Clippard doesnt get the hype Hughes does is simply because he doesnt throw 95 MPH like Hughes. Hughes throws 95 and has great control over all of his pitches. Clippard throws 90 and has great control over all of his pitches. Clippard wont be a #1 however I think a #2-3 starter is possible and hes only increasing his trade value if the Yankees ever wanted to move him. The Yankee farm system is certainly on the rebound.

Yanks blow out the sox in the first game(as expected) Although I wasn't as confident in the 4th inning.

Yankees then stun the sox by coming back from down 3 runs in the 7th to score 7 runs off a clutch hit by the captain and another clutch hit by a rod.

Yankees SWEEP the double header.

Stunning? Unfortunately, blowing leads has become all too familiar to Red Sox fans. I guess you didn't follow the KC series.

Let me go through this one more time. The red sox were expected to win.

Lester vs. Ponson. SIDNEY f***ING P0N0N

That makes it stunning? How much smart money do you think was bet on the Red Sox tonight, when the Red Sox were throwing a kid that can't go 6? I wouldn't have bet a dime on them tonight. It would have been shocking if Ponson had beat Schilling, but beating anyone else was neither shocking or stunning.

Jon Lester throwing right handed is better then Sidney Ponson.

Not if he can't get the ball over the plate. He still should be in AAA. He looks nervous at times, and has horrid control. The fact that his ERA isn't like 9 is just a testament to what kind of stuff he has. But he can't get it over the plate, which basically negates any "stuff" he does have.

Right now, both are toss-ups. I don't think Ponson is that much worse than Lester. In a year or two it will be a different story, but not now. Neither should be in the majors right now.

Plus, we had Ponson beat. Too bad we have no bullpen.

Speaking of Sidney Ponson, he has been designated for assignment this morning. Also, Brian Bruney was optioned back to Columbus (Still trying to figure out why he was here to begin with. Not a knock on him, but we had guys like DeSalvo and Karstens already on the 40 man roster who we could have brought up instead of Bruney. Both of those guys can give you more innings, as well.). To take their places, Aaron Guiel and JEff Karstens were called up.

I still want to know how Guiel, who has more than 3 years service time, was optioned down back in July. I'm f***ing baffled.

Anyways, when I heard this morning of the roster moves I meant to come on and post them, but didn't get around to it.

BTW, Last night's game 2 was completely unenjoyable to watch from the 4th inning on <_ ..what the fuck was that shit about.>

He's a good pitcher. Look at his first 4 or 5 starts. He just ran into a better offense and crumbled.

What?

Even bad pitchers can get lucky for a month. This guy's ERA is north of 5.50.

Lester isn't a bad pitcher, he just should still be in the minors. He loses control when he gets in a funk.

Look what Rotoworld said on him...

Considering that there are times when he can't even throw strikes when all he's trying to do is get it over the plate, it says a lot about Lester's stuff that he's been able to survive in the majors so far.

He has the stuff, he was just rushed. I hope this won't ruin him. He certainly is a better pitcher than Ponson, but he is in no way shape of form ready to be in the majors. At least Ponson has shown he has been able to have some success in the majors.

I definately wouldn't call him a bad pitcher. He's just young. How many great pitchers struggled at a young age? Tons. RJ, Beckett, Pedro, among tons of others. The first few months of a players major league career don't dictate what kind of player he will be throughout.

yeah, I know. I just branched off into the future thing. Either way, I dont think it's fair to call him a bad pitcher. We've seen that he has the ability to be a great pitcher, and he was for a period of time. I would call him a struggling pitcher rather than call him a bad pitcher.

His ERA is 4.72 Now thats not good, but he was 5-0 to start his career. That tells me he was doing someting right.

Yeah, he was half as good as Aaron Small was last year.;)

Not to change the debate about Lester...but when/how did you guys get Brian Bruney?

I believe he was DFA'd by the D-Backs, which resulted in his release from the team. The Yanks signed him to a minor league contract and recently purchased it.
