Now Tracy brings in Chapman on a 7 run game  in the eighth inning.  WTF is going on.  I do t get it. No point in pitching him here.  Let it go.

it could be has last playoff appearance, here was the right thing to do. Bennett should have thrown for Miller

In the offseason, Craig Breslow traded for Willson Contreras, who this year posted 4.6 bWAR, Chad Durbin, who posted 4.4 bWAR, and Sonny Gray, who posted 4,3 bWAR.

That wasn't enough to offset the departure of Alex Bregman and the regressions of Garrett Crochet, who dropped from 6.0 bWAR in 2025 to a negative 0.5 bWAR this year, and Jarren Duran, who dropped from 4.9 bWAR in 2025 to 0.4 bWAR this year.

The Red Sox disappointed in the postseason after an exciting streak in the regular season.

Contreras had a career year. No one can honestly say that they expected that. Durban had a good year but he was a rookie last year I believe so he was untested. Duran clearly regressed and the Flops did have a lot of injuries to key players who were expected to contribute.
However-everyone knew that this team would need additional offensive help. It was a topic of discussion here

Like I just posted. He owned the gas station that was destroyed.

Marvin Kaplan (as Irwin) and Arnold Stang (as Ray). [1, 2]...not cox

Offensively this team needs significant changes.  Duran struggled, Abreu was terrible in the last two months of the year Story will regress next year,, Durbin will be a 230 guy with a dozen homeruns and hopefully Mead can produce at second. Yoshida barely contributes and who knows where Anthony will be but his first two years haven’t been good.  Aside from Sogard I don’t think k we keep any other bench players and we need. True second catcher because Wong is not the guy.   Hard to believe but this team at least offensively needs an overhaul

Hope this series quiets some of the cheerleaders on this site who thought these guys were anything but what they have shown in all but about 35 games

it was a bizarre season, so bad for most of it...so wildly successful in 37 game stretch...crazy

2018 is getting further and further away.

Durbin ends the entire 2026 season with a swinging strikeout.

How appropriate

BTW, if I could shoot Spike Lee I probably would

I'll pitch in for ammo.

There was zero upside in activating Crochet.  Anyone who knows anything about pitching had been saying it.

Cro Man should have never been on the playoff roster to begin with, and Miller, and Cro Man should have never  been brought into the situation they where brought into either night by Dick. Tracy.🙈🤭🤮

It was a once in a lifetime magic carpet ride going 32-5 in a very weak league. It was good while it lasted, but when it ended the team was just meh, and meh isn’t good enough in the postseason.

Why did they activate guys and not treating every inning as sense of urgency, nah let's send Jones who struck out looking twice to bat!!! Andy R takes a half swing...what is going on here...choke central

They didn't choke, they aren't good. In fact, you could say the same for the entire league. Baseball has changed to the point that it's not really baseball anymore. No more science to the game. What happened to real lead-off hitters, guys who can actually work the count and get on base? The hit and run, players that can bunt, or hit the other way and move the runner along? How about a few more stolen bases. Everybody steps to the plate trying to hit the ball out. They're all pull hitters. Rob Deere, who barely hit over 200 (if he did), would make millions in whatever the game is today. And what exactly is the managers role? I don't know exactly how many players hit over 300, just know it wasn't a lot. Six, maybe seven? That's disgraceful.

What have the owners done to the game I used to love? If it were real baseball, guys like Jones (and their are a lot of guys just like him), would be in some other line of work. It costs a lot of money (parking, tickets, concessions) to watch players who are unable to hit their weight stumble around the ballpark for nine innings. I would argue that the time spent watching this for free in front of the television is to expensive. Unless of course you have trouble sleeping. Just the fact that the owners are cool paying for whatever this is, should tell us that they don't really give a rats @zz about the fans, or winning or losing. Maybe the whole idea is to get the fans inside the ballpark, and then get them out as soon as possible.

Baseball really needs a boycott.

I think the post of this thread was the random "tough room" line by that NH guy...picked the wrong room to say that in...

I would give NH the most optimistic award for this 2026 season, just beating out Fred.
