Red Sox (Gray) vs Yankees (Fried): 9/30/26, 8:00pm

Well, this is it. Best-of-threes are always shocking. One game, and the team is up against the wall. Today's pitching matchup is an interesting one. Boston has been pretty good against LHP pitchers this season (8th in wRC+), but Fried has been excellent against the Sox in 30 innings pitched over the past two seasons.

I think last season's wild card series proved that anything can happen in a short series like this, especially between two teams that know each other so well. Unless Gray implodes I'm expecting this to go to a game 3, because what's a Yankees/Red Sox series without some agonizing tension??

Enough about Tracy pulling Tolle -- if you watched his strike location, most were right down the middle. That's how you get beat by the bottom of the order.

Maybe the best we can hope for for an October, besides a shutdown Gray, is that Fried gets a lot of ground balls and his defense throws a few away. 

Sox can't hit nor score, but they definitely play better D than the hosts.

He also only had one clean inning and a few batters coming up that had given him some tough AB's.

I felt bad for Lou Merloni last night. Watching the Sox get punished while having to share the booth with two morons named Rizzo and Girardi. Unfortunately for Lou, he will be back there tonight.

One couldn't purposely put together a worse crew to cover a ballgame.

HA, I wish they had half the offense they had in 2004, the lineup tonight has 3 bench players including the leadoff hitter, a bunch of mediocre players and a guy who hasn't hit in weeks....

well contreras is the only offensive player to have any kind of a season and he just strikes out now, the rest were streaky at best
