I'm so done with him. I got everything I needed to finish today done in the morning so I could watch a Wednesday afternoon get a way game. Within ten minutes in the top of the first the game was over! The next six games should be the measuring stick of what this team does at the trading deadline.

What the team needs to do is sell.  Unfortunately, another stupid cost cutting move they  made is they no longer scout AA and AAA teams, so that makes trading guys like Chapman and Gray more of a risk than it was 10 years ago when you could target minor leaguers who could actually play baseball instead of just checking some athletic boxes.

Wanna know why teams like the Rays seem to come up with guys who helped them immediately?  It’s because they know their farm system and everybody else’s.

Somehow they found the “formula” for Bello yet they do (again) what actually doesn’t work which is giving him the start. He can’t start a game for whatever reason. They still don’t get it.

I’ll keep saying, we are run by a bunch of inepts, who pretend being baseball geeks. I’m still wondering why Breslow still has a job.

Not sure what else they need to see to realize he cannot handle the first inning.

howdy everyone, saltyOG here, lifelong Red Sox fan, nice to have what looks/sounds like a mature place to read and share some thoughts about this super frustrating season

I just read Chad Tracy's comments in regard to why they used this as today's option, and it really makes sense because at this point he's kind of a lost cause and think it would behoove the team to remove him, send him down to the minors and try to figure this out because when he's pitching well, he's obviously a pretty good pitcher but this has to stop, lickity split, right ... I believe there are some good options + the pitching staff has literally held it all together for the most part, minus the plethora of injuries of course ... I think about the team and find myself shaking my head and literally sighing out loud sometimes, super exasperating, frustrating and just pitiful because there is some real talent on this ball club ... I hope they're serious about finding the kind of a bat they think they need for this team, this year, this ballpark ... I also read an article that John Henry seems to be pretty engaged because of all of these future enterprises he's adding to his portfolio in Boston, which to my mind is a good news, let's hope that's the case ... but let's face it, the Bryan Bello experiment HAS NOT been good and it's time for him to go down and try to figure out what ails him, and then, if possible, try to help the club down the road, remember, the AL is kinda weak right now and they could sneak in, crazier things have happened right 😊 last night's win was so exhilarating, something to build on, it was almost as if the ghosts of the ballpark we're finally on their way out 👻 however, a start like Bellos after that beautiful win can really take the wind out of the team's sails ... but I remain hopeful nevertheless

The Orioles are clearly a better team, as I predicted over the winter. The DISGUSTING FLOPS are one of the worst teams in baseball. They are an embarassment. And BresLOW is still being paid.

Henry owes us an apology.

Sox are 16-14 on the road and 10-21 at home.  The Rays are just 15-14 on the road but are 21-9 at home.  Baltimore and Toronto are 19-15 and 17-13 at home and 11-18 and 12-20 on the road.

The amazing thing is Sox attendance is over 34K and ranked 9th in MLB.

Sox are 26th in runs scored with a lower team OPS and runs scored at the Fens  than on the road.

Agree about Breslow and Henry.

As I said at the time, all of these extensions are completely unnecessary and only reward slothy performance, emotional emptiness and coddling "injuries" especially with the younger Gen Z players.

How incredibly stupid do you have to be to run Bello out there in the first inning at this point?

What makes you think it's stupid?

  • Starter  9.68 ERA  18/18 K/W
  • Bulk Reliver 0.71 ERA  22/3 K/W

If this was the old days, and this George Steinbrenner, he'd have fired mutha frackers.  He had left a grease stain on the rug where someone's body had to be removed, just as a lesson to those that took their place.

"BTW, what's that dirty spot on the rug?"

"Oh, that use to be Joe.  The Boss insisted we let the body decompose for a few days before removing it.  And we still keep his head in the freezer just in case you want to see it"

  • 6 bad starts with an ERA of 9.12
  • 2 GREAT RP games with 2 ERs in 13.1 IPs
  • 1 horrible start with 7 ERs in 5 IPs
  • 2 HOF RP games with -0- ERs in 12 IPs.

Oh, I don't know.  Can anyone with a half a brain discern any type or pattern there?  I don't say this lightly, but someone should be fired as an example.

If they were the Rays, the Dodgers, the Brewers, the Braves or among few others who evaluate and develop their system correctly I could understand the extensions, but man we are a mess. We are run by inepts. Wonder how they are justifying the Bello, Campbell and even the Anthony extensions these days. Not to mention some key FA signings and the trades.

Breslow and his nerds think they are so smart that they can use analytics to analyze a player's talent with Trackman, Rapsodo, or Statcast and without the additional use of long-time scouts.

Yes! They could send him to WOO after the game.

I am glad that they shipped him out.  Hopefully, he can straighten himself out.

IMHO Bello was pitching well with an opener. I still don’t understand why, but he was pitching good going like this. Instead of keeping what was working (until it doesn’t), they send him down. I’m not a Bello supporter at all but this is going to tax even more his confidence and probably will finish for once and for all his pathetic career.

Seriously, they need to use more common sense and less their “super complicated stats.”

Scouts? What are those? They've moved towards scouting via watching video rather than attending games because it's cheaper and they believe they can get more accomplished with less $$$.

It's not even unique to this season.  I went year by year and every year the first inning was one of his worst innings.

Sell?  And what will they do with all the money they get?
