I was happy he got traded, but I don't dislike the guy.  It was always about him being a good, not great, DH at a premium price tag.  There is no possible fit for him with the RS, even if we included Yoshida in the trade, but I'd take him back if they could figure it out.

Just for fun, Devers + Eldridge + 'some' $$$ for Yoshida + Durbin + a good, non-premium prospect.  All it would take is for Posey to acknowledge that maybe it wasn't a great move, and that maybe the SFG need to start looking forward to the future.

It looks like dumping him was the for the best, and the timing was not great, but was better than waiting longer.

Once again Casas was the planned 1B, and I don’t think the Red Sox brass at the time saw Raffy’s D at 3B as a big problem like you, and others did thus Bloom telling Raffy he be the 3B for the foreseeable future.

Devers should never been given that contract.  He was not a star, he was an average to good player, and not good with the community.

The Giants are referring to him as the Reverse Panda and that the Red Sox have gotten revenge for the Pablo Sandoval.

Actually it does seem like others saw it as a problem.  If no one did, Bloom wouldn’t have had to make that promise that Devers would get to stay at 3b.

And if they didn’t see his defense as an issue, thats a bigger deal…

Apparently Devers thought he was good on defense, but that is probably common among even the worst of the worst.

I know we had Casas at 1B, before we knew he couldn't stay healthy, but we also knew he was better as a DH.

This brings us back to the cog in the wheel: Yoshida at DH and only DH and at $18M per.

I can admit that I bail on Red Sox from time to time but I still look for something I can enjoy.

This year it's our 3 rookie starting pitchers. I also think Gray and Suarez will be fine as long as they stay healthy.

I am very down on Whitlock and Bello right now and Anthony too for his slow start. I can't wait until 2028 not to see Story and Yoshida.

The closer they get to the end of the year, the more likely they can eat one or more of the underwater contracts. If they are out of it at the deadline, Story and Masa are both gone IMO.

I still watch every pitch of every game, even the year I "bailed."

Contreras has been fun to watch.

Rafaela has stayed pretty steady for 5-6 weeks, now.

Suarez and the rookie starters have been exciting to watch. I'm hoping Samaniego & Moran can step up to fill some pen voids.

Think pay 80-90% of their contract or throw in a mid level prospect?

IKF might be wanted by someone for half his remaining $2M (end of July)

Gray might be the biggest prize.

The 1.5 to 2.5 year players may be in question and more sought after.

Chapman might bring back a nice return. (He has a 2027 option.)

Contreras has 1 more year plus an option for 2028.

Yoshida will have one more year left ($18M + $6M owed for '26)

Houck has little value until he proves he's back (one more year)

Whitlock has 2 options left, but is not looking good, so far.

Duran, Crawford, Casas, Romy & Wong have 2 arbs left, but the value might not be there for any of them.

Like everything else, it depends on how much defensive weakness you are willing to put up with in exchange for the offense.

If Casas wasn't about the worst defensive 1Bman in baseball, I could see moving Devers to DH, but I can't see keeping him at 3B for one more minute.

Just my opiunion.
