Well, yeah, he's been the CBO for long enough that we can't really blame anyone else at this point. I know Story and Masa are still on this team, but there are ways to either move those salaries or just fitting them onto the roster more appropriately. It was Breslow that decided to go with a pitching and defense first squad. It hasn't worked out so far. If this season is a stinker, it lies squarely on him.

Fair enough.  I am a habitual over-reactor, but right now what scares me is I might be right.

Sox trailing, 1-2. Try to keep in mind this Red Sox team is never as good as they look when they're bad.

There's still time for a Boston batter to actually drive in a run in this game.

Check the score again.

The last two seasons that started off 8-14 or worse: 2020 and 1996.

They started the 96 season 2-12 and ended April 7-19. Still won 85 games that year. BOS OFers had a -0.9 fWAR that year. RP's had a 0.0 fWAR.

I saw what I saw when I saw it. Bos 2, Det 1 but the Sox actually trail 1 to 2. Doesn't it feel like that?

Feels like it's tied up.

Now the Sox are getting blown out, 2-2. Remember, some relievers half asleep and freezing still have to get 15 more outs before Detroit scores a run... because that's all it will take to win the series.

Bringing in Zack Kelly is waving the white flag.

Agree the Sox are down, 2 games to 1, in this series.  The worse news is that the one win was from the only run, unearned in the 10th inning, in game 1.

The pitching is nowhere near expectations, but frankly neither is the hitting.

Sox have 2 runs but are 0/8 with RISP.

What hitting? I'm guessing Fenway is too big a ballpark for this offense.
