Watson deserves those runs. Get rid of him.

I don't mind gambling on the R5 guys, but this is as far as I'll go.  It feels like we have better guys available.

The improvement has been steady, yet you kept predicting doom & gloom for Ceddanne.

It almost feels like you are suggesting that young players come in and improve as they gain experience.

He's been fine over the past 12 games.

Definitely a handpicked sample.

I like Durbin. Was hoping he'd pad his stats at the end of the game and sneak one over the Monster.

Not all of them.

Not all do, but when you see one on a pretty noticeable incline, I didn't get why he kept singling him out.

24 maybe?

At 24, it became easier to indulge my worser instincts.  At 18, I was working at a beer distributor.  I didn't make any real money, but the environment was surprisingly a lot healthier than when I started working in an office.

I wouldn't do that over a longer period, or I'd lose my accounting card.  But when the sample starts off very, very small, it sometimes makes sense to make the sample even smaller.  Relative to the talent base, I am more comfortable with Durbin reaching his projections than I am with Anthony.

I thought it was because he struck out his first AB in spring training?

Sooner or later, Boston will realize it’s ok to cut bait with a Rule 5 pick.  Who was the last one they returned?

It makes sense to wait, but the wait is over.

Bye-bye!

2014 - Jandel Gustave (RHP) was traded to KC and later returned.

2012 - Jeff Kobernus (2B) was traded to DET and later returned.

2006 - Nick Debarr (RHP) returned to the Devil Rays on March 12, 2007.

Just happy that they somehow at least split the 4 games, we all know what the real issue is, if you are going to play Punch and Judy baseball, you better be able to string hits together. This lineup is stacked with folks hitting the likes of .187, .164, .152, .182 and .217, thats 5 out of 9 spots, in the bottom of the 7th inning of the 22nd game of the season. Already an 1/8 of the season  13 HR's in 22 games shouts what the Red Sox are not. The longer it takes for them to get it together as a team, the deeper their hole will get, better work toward .500 first. 12 hits. yep going to need a lot more just like it. Gray most likely headed for a D.L. Tolle or Oviedo?

He’s fine at what he does, but he’s really a low power contact hitter…

I like Durbin's defense plus I'm sure he can hit better than he has.

The NYY have 4 regulars with a .180, .164, .130 and .167.

None of those names ring a bell.

We have gotten a few players returned to us, recently.

4/4/26 Paez returned

4/1/26 Bastardo (from 2024)

6/12/24 Drohan (from 2023)

8/23 Noah Song (from 2022)

Did I miss anybody?

Definitely Oveido...as we all know it will take Tolle at least 35 games to get done working on his secondary pitches...yeah..yeah..thats it..secondary pitches.

Oviedo is on the 60 Day IL.

The 40 Man Roster choices are:

Tolle

Samaniego (Start Anderson?)

Bennett

Add to 40?

Guerrero (Anderson starts?)

So much for all the plus rotation depth.

They could activate Sandoval…

It’s early. I’m sure the real Rafaela will rear its ugly head eventually. Enjoy this flash in the pan.

While that could certainly be true, the vast majority of our under-production is due to the guys we came in with.  Our regular lineup was always going to be:

  • Narvaez -.277
  • 1B
  • 2B/3B
  • Story   -.219
  • Mayer
  • RA   -.185
  • Raffy
  • Abreu
  • Duran  -.255

We weren't replacing Narvaez, Story, Anthony or Duran.  But if those four guys were hitting the same as they did in 2025, our team OPS would be .737, good for #6.  One could go to the next step and make the assumption that there was no one out (as of today) that would've been a better acquisition than Contreras.  That would leave only Durbin as someone to upgrade.  And adding Bichette (.538), Bregman (.623), Marte (.663) or Paredes (.565), instead of Durbin (.495), scarcely qualifies as an upgrade, particularly considering the alternative use of the money (Suarez).

There’s no reason they couldn’t have signed Suarez AND obtained a far more talented player or two instead of Durbin or IKF.

Except of course that the owner is a cheapskate.

You do realize IKF was brought in for a bench role and not in place of Alonso or Schwarber, right?  At best he took Refsnyder’s spot on the bench and payroll.  Not Bregman’s….

He’s been out there quite a bit so far. I’d rather have a better player than IKF, who really should be in AAA ball to be called up only if a more talented player gets injured.

IKF is actually a very good all-around player.  Great defender and very versatile.  He’s been a starter for the bulk of his career for a reason.  And he had some key hits today.  If the Sox didn’t have him, we’d probably be seeing more Sogard or similar.  Yippy…

The real Rafaela has consistently improved.
