Red Sox (Gray) vs Tigers (Flaherty): 4/20/26, 11:10AM

The Red Sox have scored 3 conventional runs the last 3 days, so they will probably break out today, score a bunch of runs, and make their stats look better than they really are.🤫

The worst part about this season is that my son now thinks the BRUINS are better than the Red Sox. WTH?

The Bruins crapped their pants at the end of the game last night, but they did outscore the Red Sox.

I got to see one cup in my lifetime. I'm not expecting another as long as Jacobs owns the team (probably much longer than that).

It's only April 20th, yet this feels like a must win game.

(I'm not saying it is, but man-o-man, this sucks bigtime.)

None of their stats are good.  Plus W-L is the one that really counts.  Right now that's 8-13, which is lousy, but the Sox are still just 4.5 gsames behind Yankees @ 13-9.

The Sox now ranked 25th in MLB in runs scored and 21st in team ERA.

As far as I'm concerned. those two stats are directly attributable to Craig Breslow.  He needed to get another good bat.  Even worse is that his expertise is in pitching and right now that's in disarray.  Oh, and the Sox payroll is ranked 6th in MLB.

Meanwhile, the Sox fans have been hugely supportive given both the lousy play and lousy weather.

Well, yeah, he's been the CBO for long enough that we can't really blame anyone else at this point. I know Story and Masa are still on this team, but there are ways to either move those salaries or just fitting them onto the roster more appropriately. It was Breslow that decided to go with a pitching and defense first squad. It hasn't worked out so far. If this season is a stinker, it lies squarely on him.

Thanks, @mvp 78! I didn't realize today is Patriot's Day and that I needed the game thread up so early.

I figured!

Either this team is going to be dog doo all year long or they're going to get hot at some point. Why not today? 🏃‍♂️

Am I alone in thinking the Red Sox's Patriot's Day uniform is their best uniform?

It depends on the year. Some years, the T in BOSTON gets weird with the piping.

Some people really like the variations of the 1975 uni.

The Bruins were beaten by a better team. Swayman was the only reason the game was close.

That this B's team finished the season with 100 points was a minor miracle.

No matter how inept your base-running, you can always find a defense that is even worse.

Tigers have a well balanced team. Sure bet to make PO's.

Lots of high level positional prospects too.
