My feelings exactly.

The Butch Hobson Sox were pathetic offensively.

93-94 Red Sox

I did some quick research and those were weak offensive years. But they did have Vaughn, Valentin and Greenwell. This current lineup has no one right now close to those 3.

Btw, the 1994 season was shortened to 115 games.

At this point, this team is not worth watching and wasting 3 hours of life. They are flat and not a talented team. They have the personality of the manager. No fire or desire to be better. Breslow and ownership are just going through the motions. I can't believe the fans will continue to show up at Fenway to support this product.

Those 3 guys were better than anybody the Sox have playing now.

Mo Vaughn was a great Red Sox. In his 8 seasons with the SOX he had an OPS of .936.

Luckily, and deservedly so for the Red Sox they are on the back burner of Boston sports right now. The Celtics, and B’s start their postseason tomorrow, and the NFL draft is next week for the Pats.

I remember the season Hobson was batting 9th in the Sox lineup and still had over 100 RBI.

I also remember the '84 season when all 3 SOX OF's, Rice, Armas and Evans all had over 100 RBI.

Tomorrow someone stupid that's me will propose yet another new batting order -- but in the end, it will always be from the same roster.

And all summer long, the major league Red Sox will be facing "tough pitchers."

Does anyone here ever remember a weaker Sox offense than this current one?

Maybe the one last October?

If the Sox continue to flounder, and Bello’s continues with his poor outings, he may start feeling a little nervous about his place in the rotation ….

No problem. Don't the Sox have 4 other top notch starters to replace Bello?

They only need one.

Sandoval could be ready soon……

But that was because the Sox were missing their 2 future super stars, Anthony and Mayer.

Okay, well this is because we're missing Bregman & Devers.

So this is what we can expect moving forward from John Henry now.? This team is a mess and are hard to watch. 6B man and he pinches Pennie’s. Sell the team loser.

I doubt he's considering selling. I do wonder what his thoughts were, when fans were chanting that at the park.

I've always said, "Be careful what you wish for." The next owner could spend less and hire worse leadership.

I'm not ready to jump ship on Brez & Cora, but the thread is getting thinner and thinner by the day.

Cora should be on thin ice…

I do think he is on thinner ice than Breslow, but I still think they could promote him rather than fire him, as weird as that sounds.

The problem is that changes clearly need to be made -- but "this is the roster" is the reality.

The main changes needed to be made in the offseason unless a new manager -- and pray to the baseball gods, a new coaching staff -- comes in without any relationship to the players and immediately switch Mayer and Story.

They're committed to giving Durbin half a season to get straightened out, so aren't replacing him with IKF or Monasterio yet. Who knows when Romy returns or how long it takes him to contribute.

The only move that could help right now -- and this is going to freak some fans -- is to trade Duran for any asset like a decent reliever and make Yoshida a full-timer in the batting order.

This current starting line-up just isn't going to strike out less unless Masa the Punching Bag gets to punch pitches regularly. He should be the DH every day and not Anthony, who needs to play left field every day so he doesn't sit in the dugout and think too much.

Young guys need to run on and off the diamond all game long to get into and stay into a groove on both O and D.

They could find a replacement for Cora; replacing Breslow is a different animal.  No executive wants to work for the Red Sox and won’t unless Henry commits to winning again.  Remember, Breslow was the 11th choice, and most of the first 10 wouldn’t even interview.

Only 4 (former Sox/current DBacks GM Mike Hazen, Guardian’s President Chris Antonetti, Brewers’ GM Matt Arnold, Rays’ executive Peter Bendix) declined.

In the case of Bendix, he was interviewing for and eventually got the position of POBO with the Marlins…

The Sox are 6th in spending and spend more than double 8 teams. They spend over $60M more than half the teams.

Henry has a long history of targeted budget cuts followed by significant high spending trends.
