whaddayamean? in Breslow's mind Oviedo IS the the #2 starter.

On NESN it said they project him as a bottom of the rotation starter. Another comment said they traded a #3 prospect for a bottom of the rotation starter, which didn’t compute to making much sense.🤔

A #4 SP. Still need another very good pitcher. Not a bad move . Career ERA+ of 101.

That's counting his first 2 years: 110 ERA+ since '22.

He walks way too many batters.

Walks more than I like but his numbers from last season’s 40IP are useless.

If you’ve ever seen him - and you can’t miss him, hes f***ing huge - he has a really good slider and curve.  Fastball is weak.  His real problem, however, has been staying off the IL.

Not sure if he’s viewed as a starter, starter depth, or returns to the bullpen…

i know Password was "blocked" but i thought he would have been part of a bigger package for a better player. Oviedo is more "throwing s*** at the wall and see what sticks".

Password was never going to get more than a backend SP.  And that’s exactly what Oviedo has been doing…

without a doubt. i said part of a package....to get someone like Marte, Ryan, etc., not a broken-down-back-of-the-rotation-starter-that-walks-too-many-batters-when-he's-not-injured.

For a guy who said he was not going to spend much time acquiring bottom of the rotation starters, bres-slow seems to be collecting them anyway!!!

The Sox have 14 starting pitchers on their 40 man roster, 15 if you count the recently DFAd Criswell.   And those are just the starters.  Maybe a few get pushed to the pen, since they only have 7 RPs right now.

To me, that tells me a trade involving a SP or two is not only imminent, but also necessary.  They can’t start the season with more than 27 pitchers on the 40 man roster.

And why was Criswell DFAd?  They didn’t need to clear a 40 man roster spot for Oviedo…

Any package with Password that’s good enough to land Marte or Ryan is probably good enough without Password…

Brez sure isn’t afraid to trade off some top Suspects.

Suspect for suspect shouldn't really count...LOL.

I've been drinking too, but no, he is not our #2.

Not sure how I feel about this one - I get Password is blocked but I don’t think this is the guy I would’ve targeted

102/27 K/W in AAA.  There are points in every prospect's trajectory where is results either trail or exceed his real talent.

Criswell is not worth worrying about losing.

I'll give Bres credit for one thing - he finds ways to continually surprise with his trades.

I was wondering why we'd made this trade when I saw it, and was close to horrified upon first glimpse, but the more I think about it the more I'm convinced another trade is coming from our pitching surplus, and so I'll wait until all the moves have been made to see what happens.

It's exciting to see us making moves if nothing else. And Oviedo has some serious upside.

Yes, agreed. Feels inevitable, which is quite exciting.

Tyler Samaniego was on Pirates 40 man - they saved him from the Rule 5.

The Sox wanted one free spot for the rule 5, reports Cotillo.

My son was upset the Sox traded the prospect who hit more homers the past two years than Roman Anthony.

But I told him the team with the third-highest revenue that is all about winning championships doesn't need Password's HRs, because they're going to sign Alonso or Schwarber AND Bregman or Bichette.

And then he got really mad at me.

Seems like guys like Oviedo and Dustin May are those 5th/6th Starter types that have a high ceiling if they reach their potential. Wondering if big trades for Skubal or Ryan are on the table that would include the likes of Bello, Tolle, and Early....???
