The prospective 2026 Seattle outfield is already crowded with All Stars Julio Rodriguez and Randy Arozarena flanked by Victor Robles, Dominic Canzone and Luke Raley.

Robles and Raley are bench/role players.

I saw Robles win the salmon race. Seems like a good get TBH.

We could involve a third team or use other players for Castillo, other than OF'ers.

Right now the Sox have one good pitcher. How dense are you?

Thats often enough.  But you need the bats for that to be enough.

Duran 1 for 11 for a 0.91 batting average.

well, i thought he would do something special in the playoffs.  wonder if his BTV is still 60 lol.  I will no longer be vocal about how much his spark adds to the team.  Well, I wont present such as a barrier to being okay to trading him at least.

Don’t mind losing but put up a fight.  This team quit by the fourth inning.  Zero leadership or pride.  Laid down after the fourth inning of s***ing themselves defensively.  Kudos to Chappy Whit and Crochet.   I can’t find one kudos offensively all season   Not one

Story for making it through the season and leading is in all categories. Prob the closest youll get. Or Nav. Not full cudos, agreed.

Didnt we go through of an offseason of this already (last offseason).

Back and forth with Hill over whether or not Sea is a trade fit.

True. But Id rather not pigeon hole.  Your original statement was naming solid-to-better SP who make some coin, because you figure that a solid-to-better SP making low money would be super expensive. Castillo was in a list.  But you summoned Hill because talk about a potential trade with Mariners and he appears.

No harm in kicking tires with Sea, but that wasnt exactly your point (that we line up with Seattle) they just had a pitcher that was included in a wide net. I like your approach. People speculate that Brez got too focused on Joe R and I dont know if thats true or not, but I do know that Id rather kick tires around the league for a starter than zero in one guy.  You are vulnerable to getting milked when you zero in on one guy.

The Yankees pitching shut us down pretty hard for 3 games.  Can't really blame it on one guy not hitting.

Sure you can. That's what message boards were designed for.

I can when I screamed dont trade this guy , he''ll be our catalyst/spark/rally/leader in the playoffs.

I guess I can blame myself for expecting too much.

The main thing I learned from this series was that this Sox team is the weakest of any Sox PO team in my lifetime.

That being said, congrats to the Sox for overachieving this season.

weakest AL ive seen in my lifetime, but I dont mean to negatively contextualize the accomplishment. Im happy

NOw had they missed, I would have screamed about losing playoff spots to deadline sellers 2 straight years , so glad that didnt happen but still.....

Few years in a row now where at least 50% of the AL teams made the playoffs simply cuz somebodys gotta.  A lot of that was the evaporating TV deals (limiting Texas ability to get back for example).  But when you are losing out to teams like KC, Det last year (seller), Cle this year (seller), Rangers (no tv money, limiting them), losing out to teasm like this for yet another year in a row woulda been bad

The bar was low but they cleared it and im happy. Now lets come back stronger with new players and not just "the team is mostly set".  Mayer has to earn his way on to this team.

It’s not because the Yankee pitching is that good. It’s that our offense stinks.

Where else can you scream into the void and have someone scream back at you for being wrong?

Some might say it's a combination of the two.

Victor Robles and Luke Raley are a year removed from 3 bWAR seasons but may indeed be role players behind the All Star outfielders.

With a 2025 payroll of $164.5 millon, the Mariners ranked 15th among MLB teams:

https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/payroll

Assuming Jorge Polanco does not exercise his player option for the 2026, Seatttle should have more than $50 million in salary coming off the books (including $28 million in Mitch money for Haniger and Garver):

https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/seattle-mariners/cap/_/year/2025

Cal Raleigh is due a $10 million raise under his extension while arbitration raises await Logan Gilbert, Randy Arozarena, George Kirby, Bryce Miller, Matt Brash, Gabe Speier and others.

It should be interesting to see how much the frugal Mariners are willing to spend this offseason to fill holes in this returing core:

C Cal Raleigh

1B Luke Raley

2B Cole Young

SS J.P. Crawford

3B Ben Williamson

RF Victor Robles

CF Julio Rodriguez

LF Randy Arozarena

DH Dominic Canzone

SP Bryan Woo

SP Logan Gilbert

SP George Kirby

SP Luis Castillo

SP Bryce Miller

RP Andres Munoz

RP Matt Brash

RP Gabe Speier

RP Emerson Hancock

RP Eduard Bazardo

RP Carlos Vargas

The Mariners may tap into its well-regarded farm system that has nine prospects among MLB Pipeline's Top 100 and seven prospects among Jim Bowden's Top 50.

Agree on the AL being so weak, and that made the AL so wide open to Anyone who got into the postseason. The Red Sox lost out on a golden opportunity.

Breslow will be relieved.  Your (lack of) approval held up several trades.

A tip of the cap to Cam Schlittler, who pitched an absolutely great game. In addition to that, the Yankees just played a better, cleaner defensive game. Having the home field and crowd may have helped them a bit.    But that's baseball. No sense trying to overanalyze one game of baseball. I still think that either Detroit or Cleveland would have been an easier first round opponent, but it is what it is. All that is left to say is, " Wait til next year ". Once  again.

I dismissed some of your (and others) trade ideas because of high expectations of Duran.  And Im here to take my L.

I didnt say a barrier to the trade, I said a barrier to being okay with the trade.

Last time you mentioned trading Duran , I jumped down your throat. Im not willing todo that anymore.

Rumor was they tried to move Castillo, last winter, and now he's a year older. Their SP'ers did worse in '25, so maybe they have different priorities , but maybe not.

Hell, give em Fitts or Harrison with another player.

Last offseason rumors were that Seattle fielded inquiries about Luis Castillo, not that the Mariners tried to move Castillo.

Castillo, whose no-trade protection expires after this season, might be a trade candidate at the 2026 deadline in the longshot event lefty Kade Anderson is fast-tracked to the majors:
