Yup, if the Sox do make the playoffs and have to go to Yankee Stadium for the entire Wild Card series, it's doubtful they'll get to suit up Papi, Manny or Damon.

They won't even have the equivalent of Tek, Trot and Bell -- who combined for 5 HRs in the '04 ALCS...

... not to mention the knocks from Mueller, Millar and Orlando Cabrera -- who combined for 25 hits (it went 7 games, after all; the most the WC series can go is 3).

2018 lineup was just as good if not better.  Right now the Sox lineup is as suspect as I can remember with Anthony and Abreu out, Devers gone, and Bregman and Duran both in September slumps.

On the other hand, check out these September OPS's:  Gonzalez 1.055; Ref 1.010, Narvaez .991, Story .971, Eaton (yes, Easton) .977, Wong .748,

I'm gonna argue these next two games are the most important of the Sox's season. Absolutely crucial for seeding that they get wins here.

Good stats, the platoon guys have been coming through (and that includes Narvaez, with two clutch pinch-hits late).

The problem with your list is that Story is the only full-timer, though Romy has been getting more reps -- and better get more, now that defensive specialist Hammy made two more Es last night.

Here are the at bats and OPS's for September--

Bregman   42 AB's, .568 OPS

Duran   39  and .570

Story  39 and .971

Lowe 31 and .590

Rafaela  30 and .406

Gonzalez 28 and 1.065

Eaton 25 and .967

Narvaez  24 and .991

Yoshida 24 and .613

Refsnyder 21 and 1.010

To be honest, I think the biggest problem is with lefty bats, especially with Anthony and Abreu on the IL and Duran in a slump.

Romy has earned the FT role. He is hitting RHPs pretty well, and better than many LHBs on the team.

We really need Abreu back, and ASAP.

We also need better from these guys:

Lowe: .991 in first 14 games w Sox/.258 last 6 gms.

Rafaela: .899 in previous 55 games/.487 last 35 gms/.403 last 12 gms (But hey, he has 3 BB and 6 Ks in his last 15 PAs! Are we glad he's made "adjustments?")

DHam: .778 in previous 6 gms/.369 last 10 gms

Duran: .949 in previous 9 gms/.550 last 7 gms

Bregman: .858 after return from injury to 16 games ago /.452 last 15 gms

Last 14 Days:

1.045 Narvaez (.833 last 7 days)

1.010 Ref (platoon) 1.500 last 7 days

.988 Romy (near FT) 1.167 last 7

.967 Eaton (1.049 lasy 7)

.945 Story (.925 last 7)

.748 Wong

.742 Duran

Sogard .769 last 7 days

Agree on all.

Against lefty Fried today, 9 righty bats including Sogard--

Gonzalez 1b

Bregman  3b

Story  SS

Ref   LF

Narvaez  DH

Eaton RF

Sogard 2b

Wong C

Rafaela  CF

With Narvaez hitting again, it makes sense to have him DH.

I like Eaton in RF because of that great throw yesterday.  Don't know how good he is to 3b.

Duran is again sitting against a lefty starter.

Bregman did hit that single hard yesterday, one of 2 hits by the Sox.

My expectations today will be low, so my disappointment will also be low. However, if the Sox win my excitement will be higher.

Including last night's loss the Sox are now 7-27 against the Yankems in September since 2017. That's not a SSS.

I have faith in Bello. Yellow Sox also rule.
