this may have moved the needle 5 yrs ago but not now. If this is it for deadline additions the team should have been sellers.

He might be better than our 7th or 8th RP'ers, so maybe it will help, but we better do better.

Jordan is Rule 5 eligible, this winter, and we were likely going to trade him at some point.

Matz might be a decent 7th or 8th man in our pen.

Sorry, I did not notice someone else posted the trade.

I’ll just merge it so we don’t have two duplicate threads.

the trade is fine I guess. I hope it’s one of multiple trades we’re making, otherwise it seems kind of pointless.

didn't we think Henry would approve spending some of the money HE saved in the Devers trade at the deadline??

Blaze Jordan to STL.

LH's RP'er. Not what I was hoping for, but as one small piece of a bigger plan, maybe okay...

whoop tee do. wonder why Bloom didn't want his boy Yoshida?

and i've seen some say that Blaze was blocked at 1B. AYSM? we don't have anybody playing first and Blaze should have been given a chance. he couldn't do worse than Toro.

Yes, he will approve. Book it.

Yeah I don’t understand how Blaze is blocked at 1B, Toro is a DFA candidate.

Another thing I don’t understand is why they wanted a 5th LHRP. They already have Chapman, Bernardino, Wilson and Murphy.

Casas will be back. Campbell is not a 2Bman. (OF or 1B is about it.)

Romy can platoon at 1B in 2026.

I just think they knew Jordan was never going to be good enough.

I (along with MVP) have been calling for the Blazer to come up, and a part of me feels like we will regret this trade. But, I have to admit, just as I thought Grissom was maybe worth another look, BJ was hitting the same poor pitching in AAA, so maybe they just see think he doesn't have it.

Pity though. I wanted him up for that name alone.

I thought the Sox would give both Jordan and Grissom a shot.  Much like Jordan I guess, I’ve been informed that Grissom also only hit well against poor pitchers at the AAA level.  With that in mind, I don’t dive as deeply as some do into who the better pitchers are at the AAA level.  I’m going to guess that I’m not the only one who checks our guys in the farm by following their stat line.  I’d like to know who in our system is actually worth anything.  How about Campbell or even Mayer?  Are they really as good as once it seemed?

WOW!!!   This is what 'all in' means!   (I admit to momentary shock when I read that Duran was traded).

Even when the Red Sox were making bad moves, or insignificant moves in recent years.....when have they ever made just ONE move?

I'm not saying you'll like them but there will be more today.

Over under on Red Sox moves today at......2?

I'm not sure Blaze Jordan is the loss some people think it is, if it is then good for him.  I just don't think he can keep up with velocity and will be exposed at the MLB level.

He's still young, but he's a bad ball hitter.  Very Dalbec like, probably a AAAA for lifer.  If he were to prove me wrong I'd be happy for him.

He's been better than that, moon.  He has a higher fWAR than any Sox reliever except Chapman.

I listen to same Sox prospects podcast as MVP (I'm guessing) and you do get some more detailed tidbits on these podcasts. I think the pitching level in AAA has been the lowest it's been in a while so the stats can be a little misleading now as the pitching is so inferior to the MLB.

So yeah, can be tricky to judge just looking at the stats at the moment. I still had high hopes for Blaze, though.

I guess the fact they didn't bring him up shows, as Moon says, that they must see something every day they think isn't right, because God knows we need something at 1B.

Glad Blaze will get a shot somewhere. I think Grissom may be an add on in a trade today or DFA'd at some point.

I wanted Blaze called up and given a shot, but don't really believe it's a big loss to the org. I think it's a fair trade for Matz. I would still rather a better solution than Toro.

Yeah, given the low cost of a 1B I've moved 1B up on my own personal priority list.  I still want a starter.

Not sure any of the names I want are realistic but there are guys out there after Joe Ryan who may have more availability as well.  Merrill Kelly has been mentioned, along with Cease.  Not sure how I feel about Cease but if the Sox think they can get him right they could probably totally take advantage of SD.......who I would definitely take advantage of if I could.

Boy, you really made your second post in 2.5 months count! 🤣

5th best bb/9 for relievers over 40 innings. Has been a solid reliever.
