I completely trust that the two moderators believe that.  No better reason than that for me to question it.  He's a group think guy.  That's ok, I have eliminated him so it won't be an issue going forward.

I have no interest in entry level knowledge and frankly if I could eliminate you two moderators I would.  Your contribution to me has been nothing but insults.

I'm really only seeking knowledgeable baseball fans to discuss baseball with.  I read the comments and just laugh at how it sounds like a discussion my sons would have had in grade school.  And for the record if sk7326 was reasonable he wouldn't have to insult someone because he disagrees with him.  It's called maturity and it's severely lacking in 12 people on this site.  The good news is the rest of site seems to be filled with knowledgeable baseball people so I'm simply fencing off the minor league team and speaking only with the major league team.

No insults and knowledgeable comments with be a refreshing change.  Everyone can live happily in this space if they mind their own business and comment only in their click/club.

Ironically, in most industries people would be more aware of the lack of experience and have greater understanding of all they don't know so the guy who is an apprentice mechanic wouldn't be crapping of the mechanic with 40- or 50-years' experience he would be seeking knowledge.  Pick an industry where the minimally experienced people disrespect the experienced people.

Sports seems to be the only industry where the latest generations seem to think they know more than the previous generations who have followed and played the game for decades.  Sports fans from this generation lack hubris.  They have no idea what they don't know but are willing to voice their narrow opinions as if they are all knowing.  Discounting experience shows a huge lack of maturity.

TYPM will never see this as I’m sure I’m one of the chosen 12, but all I can say is wow.

To borrow from Colonel Sherman Potter “TedYazPapiMookie, just a hunch.  Will Rogers never met you, did he.”

Nobody has hurled insults like you on this site in quite a while.

Why not take a hike and find a site with real smart guys like you?

We'd all be thankful.

damn....neither was i. my point was Breslow traded Devers for a grab bag of s*** instead of a decent pitcher -like Ryan.

Let's reign it in a bit. We don't really know what he's traded for yet - it's way too early. Secondly, most reports coming out at executive level saw the contract as a sunk cost and were surprised the Sox got what they did.

We were never getting a Ryan for Devers. Not a chance.

Colorado? they don't have anyone worth having.

I don't know enough about Colorado, but I heard on some pod/radio the other day (I forget which), they have two decent relievers there. Can only be that.

The Athletic are reporting it's - Ryan McMahon (3B) and Jake Bird (RP) that teams are most interested in,

One hilarious thing is that he seems to think we're a bunch of youngsters here. 😄

(Fully aware this will launch a fresh barrage of insults from him.)

Not to mention not many teams unloading MLB pitching are acquiring MLB hitting…

Can't have everything.  You're not going to move the $250 million contract of a DH and get big talent back too.  Just not happening.

He's still prearb in 2026! He's got 4 years to go, and we just dumped Devers!

He's worth trading for.

Absolutely.  The team control there is tremendous.  And could he be amenable to buying a couple of free agent years via extension?

That said, he is cheap to the Pirates too, and there is merit in giving your fans some reason to roll out of bed.

Oh sure, if you're trying a deal for Jared Jones in the offseason.

On BTV, Campbell for Keller is a huge overpay.  But I’d be shocked if Pitt didnt go for it.

i wouldn’t do I it myself.  Campbell is owed $60mill over 8 years.  Keller is owed roughly $60mill over the next 3 yrs and 2 months.

With Kelley’s raises coming (25mill in 2026, $18mill in 2027, $20mill in 20/8), I think Oitt might be eager to move their biggest contact…

Great news - deal just became Campbell for Kelly AND Bednar.

BTW Grissom is outplaying Campbell in AAA.

The Red Sox are planning on doing both. Win now. Win later. What's the point in having a farm system if not to develop guys then? The Dodgers are always bringing up guys. The Sox should too.

Theres middle ground between wanting to trade from the farm instead of Duran /Abreu (who both have multiple years control beyond this one) and never calling up from the farm again.

I'd also like to see this. Will be taken in the Rule 5 if we don't protect, too.

I do this every year in the show (video game).  Trade the dudes who are out of options and you dont have room for on your 26 and trade guys who are going to get rule 5 plucked who you dont have room for on your 40 man

I am still mostly against the deal though at the end of day more indifferent.  The original sin was the huge deal made almost entirely as a PR reaction to letting Bogaerts walk.

And if you take away Skenes from Pirates fans, you're taking away Livvy too. 😉

Notin can I get a BTV check on Campbell for Keller and Bednar? Also would you do this?

Note: KC has a sub .700 OPS since going to AAA and Grissom has been much better as of late.

IMHO the original sin was Betts.

My man Zack Scott revealed that the Sox front office had serious discussions about offering Devers an extension way back in 2018 or thereabouts, and the reason they didn't was purely their concerns about the tax hit for the upcoming season.

Grissom is the Singing Frog.

He's the Bobby Dalbec of contact hitters.

Devers would have been a bargain contract at that time.

Agree 100% on Betts. That's when the org turned for me.

I think the Sox want to utilize the farm for trades and call ups. I think some posters don't see any value in the farm except for trades (SUSPECTS!). A big reason you want to have starters be young guys you call up from AAA is that they cost very little and/or have no long term commitment for 6-7 years.

If the Sox could deal from the farm to get a guy like Ryan and keep the MLB team rolling for the next 5 years, they'd do it. I just don't know if they have the ponies on the farm at the moment. The farm is taking a bit of a step back now that Mayer and Anthony are graduating. It's why I saw a story this morning that the Sox are more likely to get a lower end guy like Heaney/Galen that would cost a lot less and have a lower ceiling.

Sure? For what though? I wouldn't do it for a 2 month rental.

Campbell has a surplus value of $46mill

Keller has a surplus value of no $34.2 mill and Bednar somehow has a surplus value of $6.3mill, which is a lot for a guy who sucks.  But that Pitt package is worth $40.5mill, making Campbell an overpay, but not an egregious  one.  It’s certainly a viable deal, BTV or not, and one I can’t see Pitt rejecting. I wouldn’t make it myself as I still have faith in Campbell.

Pitt could even put the deal by sending back Nick Yorke!

Indeed - I've always argued the time to deal Betts was the 2019 deadline.  It would have hurt - but if he was "never coming back" you have to be clear eyed about that and maximize the real return.  Obviously "mookie is here forever" was the best outcome, but the player has a role in that too.

I’m not for shopping Campbell, but his history and contract do make him an ideal target for some of those small market teams…
