It's the first year of his extension, there's no way he's getting fired. Breslow was the only guy, aside from Cora, that was willing to take the CBO job. If they fired Breslow, NOBODY would send their resumé in. It'd be worse than the 10 no's they got last time. They are stuck with Breslow through his contract and maybe longer. This is a cultural mess created by JH and everyone else at FSG. 👎

The only thing they can do for the next few years is churn through the roster and replace the lower level coaches.

I do think you are very correct in assessing the contractual situations, so it may be , stay the course, these are my guys.

But I also think there needs to be a major message sent somewhere that you cannot be an ass clown player/pitcher and bury us every day.   That usually implies a ceremonial firing, pretending to assign blame and take action.

We traded Sale for a guy who is getting rust down there but paid to a dead arm. Not sure at what this team is worst? Coached, managed or run?

He's not getting rusty. He's playing every day. He's just nowhere near good enough to be called up on this team. He's not even a AAAA guy (727 OPS). His OBP is worse this year than it was last year when he was struggling with an injury.

Giolito is a sack of crap.  Game over before retiring 1 Angel.

I'm going out on the limb and saying the chance that this is Cora's last game ( deserved or not) just crossed the 53.2% barrier.    You cannot get swept at home by the Angels.

Angels have plenty of time to make this game close.

Well it makes look even worse than I thought.

Red Sox hitters finally met their match in Soriano and may pull this game into the W column, saving Cora's job, lol

Is this the matinee that everyone has been ranting, and raving about, and anxious to see titled Horror With Cora ,and directed by Alex Cora shown on the NESN big screen where the Red Sox get swept out of town by the high flying Angels, and then head to NY like dogs with their tails tucked between the legs? Stay tuned for the reviews.👏

Why do I feel like Ive seen this movie before?

I think that's right--that Cora and Breslow have tenure because of the Sox situation.

I do not think Cora is the problem.  Today we saw yet again what has happened too often this season.  The starting pitcher has done his level best in the very first inning to keep the Sox from winning.

In addition,  Bregman's injury was followed by the Sox going 3-8 in the next 11 games with the lineup scoring an average of 2.45 runs per game.  That ain't on Cora either.

And let's not forget that Breslow signed Giolito for $40M for 2 seasons.  He missed all of the first one and so far is pitching as though the Sox would be better off he had missed this season as well.  Plus Breslow dumped Sale while paying his first year's salary--after which Sale won the NL Cy Young last year.   This year Sale is not that good, but is still the best pitcher on the Braves staff.   Whit his 5 quality starts, 67.2 IP, and 3.06 ERA he would be our 2d best starter.

Credit Breslow for Crochet, Bregman, Narvaez (a great get!), and Chapman.  Credit Bloom for Yoshida and Story--both big disappointments given their salaries.  Credit Bloom, mostly, for the talent coming from the farm system.

It is what it is.

The first 6 batters get on. Rafaela decides to swing at 3 straight and K. 😎

Exactly!

I mean it’s kind of obvious to take but again, it seems like it is not for some of them so wonder whether Cora is addressing all these kind of details in a daily basis.

Rafaela seems to have a very low baseball IQ. Look what happened yesterday.

It took me so long to write that, I completely missed the Sox 5 runs!!!!

If they do that, it would make the Sox CBO job, the most toxic FO job in professional sports.

If Campbell is not a buzz killing poor hitter, then who is ?

Kristian, unfortunately, is an indictment of the Red Sox MiLB  and evaluation system to think he was ready for MLB.  When he started out so well, it was see the ball/hit the ball reactions which got turned off by opponents figuring him out , and Kristian thinking too much

Watch the strikes he takes and the weak swings he makes on hittable pitches.  I do think he needs more work at the AAA level regardless of his contract.

We need to win badly. Call up Criswell already.

Sox hitting into DP's has decreased so far this season because K's have increased.

Starting pitching, defense, and timely hitting all have been correctly determined as weaknesses on this Sox team. Last night a couple of base running blunders probably cost the Sox the game. So we can add that to the weaknesses.

Look at the bright side - more Ks at the plate and more CS equals less DPs

Are you going to start yelling about Mayer's 540 OPS at some point? Is he ready enough for you?

It could take time to adjust and develop his swing but what it’s unacceptable is that he can’t turn easy groundballs in a daily basis.

Giolito has given up less runs this inning than in the first. Something for him to build on. Looks like the ball is coming out of his hand really well. Just barely missing his location. Lot of soft contact against him today.
