I guess losing your #1 starter and your best power hitter and not attempting to replace them can demoralize a team .

That's on the owner and the G.M.  They thought they had all this great young talent. They were mistaken.

Perhaps.  The pitching ain't that great, but bringin in Crochet was/is terrific.  So was Chapman, who has the 2d highest WAR on the Sox pitching staff.

I like the way Cora managed today.  The Sox were down 5-2 in the top of the 5th, and Cora, believing the Sox hitting would come around, ended up using 6 relievers.

They were talking about the Orioles. Santander and Burnes.

Sports psychology is as important as any stat. Right now the Orioles are losers. They look beaten and demoralized.    The manager has been iced. The G.M. is in hiding. You can spot them three runs, nothing changes. They know they will find a way to lose. It is hard to succeed without having confidence in yourself.  The Orioles have zero confidence. And this is the team that " experts" projected to be contenders for years to come.

Mayer's versatility in his first 2 at bats:  K's without swinging and then K's by swinging and missing three times.

Yup, time to DFA him. He had his chance.

Facing a LHP is a rough spot for him.

I have no idea what happened at Raf's at bat. Did he miss the bunt sign. Was he given the bunt sign at all? What a mess.

Rafaela and Story need to go
