Luckily, it's April Fools' Day, so I can play this off as a purposeful bit, but I misread the schedule. This game takes place tomorrow, April 2 (as the headline says). Apologies, folks.

Now, why do the Red Sox have a TUESDAY off? I'm not sure.

Just guessing: Monday was Baltimore's home opener, so they left Tuesday free in case of a snow-out or freezing-rainout in March.

Never understood that tradition.

Why not just play Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and leave Thursday open?

(Unless it’s for ticket holders who want to see the guest game of the season.)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's all about the fans who bought tickets for the home opener.

When I was a junior in high school, I skipped school with three buddies and drove up to Fenway for the home opener. The game got colded out, so we had lunch and went home.

But you better believe we skipped again the next day and went back up... except for one guy, who refused to miss two days of school in a row. I always wondered if he remembers what he learned in class that day...

At least my grampa took his ticket, and let me drive his caddy to the game. Sox beat Cleveland, Fisk homered, Rice tripled, Evans hit two doubles and threw out Joggin George Hendrick at third.

Very, very cool.

Unfortunately I live in Indianapolis suburb. Our senior skip day was going to the Indianapolis 500 time trials. Back then, the entire month was devoted to the 500. Two weeks of time trials.

I was at an early April game in Camden Yards maybe 15yrs ago. It was in the upper 40's, windy and non-stop drizzling. I was freezing my butt off since I have grown accustomed to the SoFlo weather having lived there for 25yrs now. First and only baseball game I ever attended where I didn't drink a beer as I opted for hot chocolate instead!

Maryland weather in April can be pretty absurd, it was 85 degrees Saturday and it will be low 40s end of the night tonight. It’ll be 80s again this weekend and then down to the 30s next week lol

I'm quite familiar as I grew up in NYC and my brother now lives about a half hour north of Baltimore in Newark, DE.

Weather can be crazy!

It’s literally absurd. I’ve seen it snow 10 inches one day and be 77 degrees and melt it all the next.

Normal lineup, and normal batting order tonight.

It's when we bat against a lefty, things get abnormal.

LOL

Fully aware of that, but I was talking about none of the slumping players have been sat down, or there has been NO movement up, or down in the batting order that has been suggested on here.

As Mel Fisher of treasure hunting fame would say, " Today's the Day" .  Looking for this game to be Devers breakout.

My guess is that Cora cannot risk moving Devers down in the lineup despite his current travails because a move like that could destroy what  confidence is there. It would make Raffy look  worse as the biggest contract on the team.   This guy is sensitive .

Devers will get it together.  There's no time like the present.

Let's go!

It might look that way if he dropped him below 4th.

Last year, he batted 4th 430 times, 2nd 153 times and 3rd 18 times.

Not sure about this, at all.

It’s a lot more likely that he is, than he is not IMO. Just watching through the years.

For " sensitive " , check out the Dodger's young pitcher, Sasaki. He had a rough debut and was knocked out early. The Dodger fans , as they are wont to do , serenaded him as he walked to the dugout. He then sat there on the bench with tears welling up in his eyes. He needs to get over that if he wants to thrive and survive in MLB. It's a tough world.

Too bad for him. He could have signed with the Red Sox where the fans are more understanding.
