Do we get 30 years of team control for Bregman jr?

No one gives extensions to babies past 12 years, because once they hit 13, they all opt of any semblance of sanity and transform into total psychopaths.

Pregnancy timing could be the difference between making the playoffs and not.

Better to have the baby in mid April than mid October, I guess. If you plan for December, you could still have the baby show up early and need to be out in the playoffs. I can't be too upset about 3 days off in April. Wilyer came back from his paternity mashing, so maybe Breggie will too.

Good thing Breg's leave didn't start yesterday - it would have cost a W for sure!

That's playing in AAA stadiums. This is an FCL stadium. We already know he hit fairly well the last two springs in those stadiums.

Trade Yoshi for Xander (plus cash) and put Xander at 1B. Trade Casas for Luis Castillo.

Just make Anthony the 1Bman.

Somewhere, Pythagoras weeps. But the reality is that last night only counts as one loss.  I think the blown leads and subsequent walk-off defeats are more demoralizing than the blowouts.  What is more troubling is the poor fundamental baseball they are playing. And that does not reflect well on the manager and coaching staff.

Pythagoras doesn't care much if a team's run differential is "skewed" by a few 10-run wins or losses.  A +50 run differential measures the same whether the +50 came largely from 3 games or is spread consistently over 20 games.

Even though a 1-run, walk-off defeat might be more demoralizing, especially to fans, than a blowout, the former bodes much better for the ability of the team than the latter.

Pythagoras is the man, BTW.

Houck simply can not use regular season games as his spring training to fix whatever is wrong with him.

It's unbelievable that we face starting pitching shortage, again. It's really unreal.

I think the unwritten rule is that anytime  a pitcher exceeds his total season innings pitched by a large amount in year 1, then in year  2 sucks he until after the all star break at the earliest

Bello pitched tonight of POR. He did not do well. Hendriks went another scoreless IP.

Bello in the same boat as houck for the first half of this year.

From someone who was at the game, Bello's fastball sat at 97-98, and he could dial it up whenever he wanted a strikeout.

But it looked like he was intentionally throwing as many breaking balls as possible by design, without concern for the results. Mastering those pitches may be the last step before he's back -- the arm is ready.

Enjoyed the two very different wins the last two nights.

Also, quietly very impressed with Story's start to the year.  Hopefully the offence can pick it up until Bregman gets back and Casas remembers he can hit again.

If he's treating it like Spring Training and hitters are sitting on the offspeed stuff, I can't worry about the outcome as long as he's locating his pitches.

If Story stays healthy, he's a 4 win player.

Gotta say it: it's a bit surprising that as poorly as we have played over the first eighth of a season, being at .500 and just 2 GB is not bad, at all.

Story is looking good, and healthy so far.  Now every shut their darn pie holes and don't mention his name again.  Don't jinx this....go find some wood and knock on it.

We've only played poorly half the time!

Hopefully we're not exactly like the 2024 Even Stevens.
