If I could have any player on the Phils playing for the SOX, it would be Wheeler.

I’d take Suarez…

Funny no one in the booth has mentioned the 6 days in between starts that Daddy Day Care scheduled for Houck. It obviously has effected his sharpness.

Btw, I've got no problem resting Houck during the season, but, imho, when you're playing a back-to back series against the 2 best teams in MLB, I'd think you'd want your best starter pitching in two of those games.

Personally, I do not want Tyler competing in the stupid, meaningless HR Derby. It's not worth the risk for this fragile human being.

The only thing more meaningless is the All-Star game itself.

Good one, but it should be spelled phorlornly.

Phillies' phans phile phorlornly phrom Phenway. That works.

phright PHoo PHahr

Hopefully, the enjoyment will continue in the next series. The SOX did pick up a game on the Yankems tonight.

Gotta gain on MN for that WC slot.

37-32 MIN

35-34 BOS -2.0

33-35 DET -3.5

33-35 TOR -3.5

33-36 TBR -4.0

32-35 TEX -4.0

31-38 HOU -6.0

(KC at 40-30 might still be catchable. I doubt BAL is at 45-23.)

When asked about Valdez's and Hamilton's defense, Cora responded "they can hit."

Exactly. Much as I deplore the worst defense in MLB, hitting does come first.

Houck maybe didn't look as sharp this game? I didn't get a chance to watch it last night but he still walked nobody and only gave up 1 extra base hit. Did the phillies just bunch a ton of singles together to get 3 runs or was Houck lucky?

If this was him on a down day then he's going to be good still.

The extra rest might have affected him a bit, but yeah, if this is one of his bad ones it's pretty good.

2 groundball singles sandwiched around a HBP, then Schwarber rocked a dbl to the base of the RF-CF wall that cleared the bases.

Basically, one big hit.

Houck looked very good, to me.

Great 2 games and series win, very unexpected against the Filet's pitching. Goes back to something noticed last year and in April. When the bottom of the lineup, 6-9, who went 6-13 ,can contribute a few hits, this team will score and win. No doubt O'Neill's 3 run blast was a backbreaker for the Fils . I would certainly shop O'Neill near the deadline and see what he brings.

Now on to the Yankees , another big test. Take the first one behind Bello and see what happens.

I saw this tidbit today:

"Over the last three weeks the Red Sox have been 26-26, 27-27, 28-28, 29-29, 30-30, 31-31, 32-32, 33-33, and 34-34."

Since Boston is now 35-34, logic says they will lose two out of three to the Yanks and get back to 36-36.
