Wink wins it with a nice strong K.. Sox roll despite little offense and Bello's mediocre start. Dammit, have to do another Game Thread. Feel like I'm talking to myself

A 1 page game thread. I think the number of posts equaled the attendance.

Geez this was one of the most annoying wins I’ve ever seen by the Sox.

The A’s are not a MLB caliber team at all.

1) Neither were the 62 Mets, but they still won 40 games.

2) Style points don’t matter in pro sports

3) Wood has been a decent pitcher over the course of his 12 year career. Not great, but very serviceable. You don’t stick around 12 years as a starter if you completely suck.

4) A’s have a couple big arms in that they used in the 8th-10th. 100+ is nothing to sneeze at even if the pitcher is on a bad team. Not every player on a bad team is terrible.

What a catch by Rafaela. Running full out, stretching to make the catch and whirling to make the throw, making it all look smooth. This guy is a special outfielder.

I'll just put it up here that Jansen on my scorecard has a T after his name not P. He has devolved into a Thrower, not a pitcher . Used 26 pitches to hold the 9th vs the A's. Probably needs a couple days rest now. If the Sox expected to be truly competitive, Kenley is not your closer.

Trade bait. Sox have enough decent arms in the pen that somebody else should become the closer IMO.

Rafaela's big time running catch at the Cf wall saves Wink's shot at still winning this. One out to go.

Amazing play. With Rafaela out there, we may no longer hear about how JBJ was the greatest CFer of all time.

Seeing that Bello is the current #5 starter for the Sox, why would anyone watch that game?

I only watched the first few innings then caught up on the rest this AM. Too many late starts!!!

Not going to get much for him right now.

The A's have big league players on the team. Bleday, Geloff and Davis all have value. Langeliers is a horrible defensive Catcher, but he did have 22 HR's last year. They have some decent pitchers on their staff. There is just a substantial dropoff when you get to the back of the bullpen.

Every win counts.

Nope. Sox wanted to much payroll compensation in the offseason.

I said at the time of the Jansen signing it was a good move, but maybe a year too late. I was yelling for the Red Sox to sign Jansen in 2022.

I only saw one inning and it was Miller (?) throwing FB at 100, 101, and 102, and to a different batter, nothing but nasty sliders on the outside edge. 3 Ks I think. I assume he must not do this very often.

I recorded last night's game because the BRUINS had an 8PM start at Nashville.

Rafaela made a fantastic catch and Wink was equally fantastic in the last 2 innings.

I don't know what to expect from Devers this season. He did have a lousy ending to the 2023 season. Oh, well, stay tuned.

Abreu and Dalbec are mirror images of themselves offensively.

Good offensive game for Story last night.

That is definitely true. I was especially impressed by both Muller and Miller so far in this series.

Have to give some credit to Devers for his play on the sac bunt in the 10th. If he throws that ball away, the game is over.

That actually was a very good grab and throw in a tough spot. Raffy definitely made that play.

I'll be surprised if they win 60 games.
