Let's hope Crawford can take over where Pivetta left off...

SEATTLE -- In a rotation otherwise consisting of pitchers in their mid-20s, the season-ending injury to Lucas Giolito has left Nick Pivetta as the lone veteran in the group. And the 31-year-old might just be the person to take on the responsibility that entails. Not only do the Red Sox

I was mostly watching March Madness, but did stop in to watch the Sox and Pivetta. His breaking stuff looked wicked and I think his fastball was around 94/95 mph. Plus 6 freaking innings in his first freaking start!!!

Back to back good starts by Bello and Pivetta, plus decent defense (except McGuire can't throw anyone out going to 2b). Who woulda thunk?

Last night the lineup without Devers reminded me of sleepless in seattle. Just lost.

Devers told a writer he could probably play tonight, but he didn't want to chance making a two day injury into a two week injury. He feels confident he'll be in tomorrow's line-up.

Had the bad luck this afternoon to catch 2 innings of Angels @ Orioles. Conclusions: O's have already won the AL East,. with relentless hitting. Batted around and scored all 9 before making the first out of 6th inning.. On the other hand, Angels BP is truly horrendous. Sox should sweep them in Anaheim next week by just getting into their pen. What an awful team , especially after losing Ohtani for nothing in return . Talk about totally misjudging your actions. Surprised Bloom wasn't a consultant for the Angels

Meanwhile back at T-Mobile , the Nation awaits the decision on Dever's shoulder fitness. His own quotes about it feeling progressively worse before skipping Friday night's game are not encouraging for the long haul, even if he plays tonight. Might have been worth PH'ing one time last night with the 1-0 game in the balance. The soreness may let up for Saturday but the underlying condition will not cure overnight.

Suddenly the Splinter makes it clear, no Devers tonight.

Hopefully(there's that word again), it won't equate to no offense again tonight.

No doubt the O's have a very good team, but opening the season at home against the weak Angels isn't the worst way to start the season.

The Braves, the Dodgers and the O's are on a different planet compared to the rest of the league.

And yet they all got knocked out of the playoffs in the first round last year.

Quite the crapshoot baseball has become.

Goals for Game#3: 1. Boston wins by any means: 2. Score runs w/out Devers. ( Something not yet done this year) #3. Crawford mimics Bello and Pivetta

Was thinking: without Raffy this sure looks like a minor league line-up...

... then realized, that except for Story, every guy in the batting order has played in a Triple A-level league in the past year or two.
