kind of like saying in a poker hand--should i toss the 3 of clubs or the 5 of diamonds.

Toss the 5: you have 4 of a kind in 3's!

It's no biggie, this choice, but go with the better players or ones with highest upside.

Our Rotation ST ERAs (K:BB)

1.98 Crawford (13:0 in 13.2 IP)

2.40 Houck (16:3 in 15 IP)

3.45 Whitlock (16:2 in 15.2 IP)

3.93 Bello (18:8 in 18.1 IP)

4.50 Pivetta (22:4 in 18.0 IP)

The rotation has 85 Ks and 17 BBs in 81 IP.

That's slightly more than 9 Ks per 9 and slightly less than 2 BBs per 9 IP.

Maybe Brez & Bailey are on to something.

(Take away Bello and the bottom 4 SP'ers have 67 Ks and 9 BBs in 63 IP.

7.44 K:BB rate! (Only 2 SP'ers had a higher K:BB, last season.)

Nice that our ST SPing is doing OK. But IMO it would be a miracle if they finished above bottom third in the league.

Just wondering what management meant by "going full throttle".....in reverse perhaps?

"full throttle" was a scam. just a ******** line thrown out to get the fans excited knowing full well they had zero intention of ever going anywhere close to full throttle.

Just finished watching their last ST game. After attending a bunch, the most notable take away from this ST was that there was nothing notable or exciting about this team.

75 wins and mediocrity is my judgment for the upcoming season.

It was complete BS.

It made fans think nothing was going to be an obstacle for putting together a winning team, especially not money. The reality was money was clearly going to be an obstacle…

as a lifelong fan, it is extremely frustrating considering the resources the Red Sox have available to them.

I think we all share in the frustration, and many have crossed the line into anger, disgust and or revulsion.

We didn't need to invest all that much more than we did to make 2024 more enjoyable and offer a significantly better playoff chance.

I'm not sure how much longer they can run this sham before unrepairable harm is done to the fanbase.

If they don't realize this, they are in this deep, they are dumber than I give them credit for.

Don't you think it's also exacerbated by the (now common) turn-over of players? Just when we get used to 'our' guys, a lot of them are gone. It's easier to be optimistic in the spring if you're dealing w/ familiar faces (doesn't matter really how good they are: Betts, Bradley, Vasquez, even guys like Verdugo). It's really diffficult to maintain 'team loyalty' or even to give a crap about winning when half the guys you've been loyal to are playing for other teams. I suspect this is the case w/ fans of nearly every team in the league.

This is a totally different issue, and I think many of us fans of almost all teams feel the same about our revolving door of players.

I didn't mean to be picking apart the statement you said about not seeing the playoffs in recent years. 1 in 5 sucks. I feel the same pain.

I'm not optimistic about our chances, this year, but I see a lot of exciting stories to watch, this year, and I;m going to run with that for as long as I can hold out.

well they lost me a die-hard long term Red Sox fan a long long time ago. It is obvious that John Henry thinks that putting a 80-85 win team forth each year will keep "sucker" Red Sox fans happy. I actually hope the Sox finish as a 70-75 win team this year so the fans finally revolt.

I'm not so sure he felt we'd be 80-85 in 3 of those 4 years, 2020 the exception, but once it happened, I think he really dropped the ball on manning up to change things.

With all the buzz about the Ohtani and Yamo signings, there were some pretty decent contracts to be had, this winter. Of course, many of the pitchers we liked are now on the IL, so we may have tried and failed, but not even putting out a half effort is a slap in the face to all fans.

If the idea was about 2025 and beyond, then we haven't even gone full throttle towards that. He could have traded Jansen (with cash), Martin, Pivetta and McGuire for young players or prospects.

Instead, they think they can sham fans with Gio and O'Neill.

To me, if seems like they were trying to compete from 2021-2023, but not be a top competitor. Now, it feels like they aren't even trying for that.

They were trying to compete in a budget. Now they’re just on a budget…
