Brez may have gotten outbid for Lugo by the small-market Royals ($45 Million... dollars?)... but at least our totally different, brand new CBO was able to land Crispy Cooper for a cool mil. For that lowvalulehighupside sleeper, Craig had to outbid all no-market teams.

This is the new regime. Well, now, they call me the Brez; I keep rolling down the road...

I really like Monty, but I’m not into pitchers who walk 4-6 batters per 9 IP. DHern had potential, too. I doubt OP does better than Paxton.

Who is OP?

The Criswell signing is meant to show Yamamoto and his team how serious the Red Sox are about 2024.

So far, all I see is more of the Bloom approach, mostly smoke with no fire. Are we going to be told we made a good try for a front line starting pitcher or are we actually going to get at least one or hopefully two? Also, lots of talk about 2nd base but nothing yet. Reminds me of the Bloom years.

I actually think Brez has a bunch of moves already planned or in the works. He might be waiting for one shoe to drop, and then we'll see a flurry.

A flurry of what is the question. I remain hopeful but expect more of the same.

Keep Mayer.

Rafaela (plus ?) for Cabrera.

Sign Montgomery

Get a 2b. (Trading for Brandon Drury gets a RHH bat with some pop.)

Start the season.

It’s a simple plan…

I've seen enough Cabrera down here. He's not it IMO.

No, Cooper Criswell is a punt.

Montgomery is s 4 bWAR pitcher. Cabrera was a 1.8 bWAR pitcher last year with easy potential to double that. Drury is a 2-3 bWAR. That’s an improvement of 8-9 games right there…

Criswell is going to be in the AAA rotation. He's a nothing move. One that people freak out because people think CBO's should only fill out the 26 man roster apparently.

The 26 man roster needs to be complete before Christmas!!

I’m hoping for some Bailey Magic…

Do that for someone you don't have to give up prospects for.

The plot maps of Edwards sinker and slider are pretty funny to me.

No reason to freak out at all the 26 man is in great shape. Oh wait a minute this team has had a losing record the last two years, and very little, or anything at all has been added to change that, so if the 26 man was getting better this wouldn’t even be a blip on the radar. Even getting outbid by the mighty Royals for Lugo wouldn’t be big news, but as things are, and as things have been the last two years every single move, or non move gets scrutinized, and then scrutinized again.

It's fair to complain about the non-moves, but getting worked up over them signing Criswell and thinking he's going to have any meaningful innings in BOS unless the wheels fall apart is just silly season. C'mon man! Most people didn't care about the bottom of the 40 man roster when DD was in charge. They shouldn't now. Reports are that they are meeting with Yamamoto in the next few days. That hasn't changed.

Yes, they're meeting with Moto to keep up appearances. Sham!

If you're Moto and his team and you take a close look at the Red Sox and what's been going on with them, you're probably going to question how committed to winning they really are.

Wasn’t there a big difference when DD was in charge? The team had 3 first place in the Div finishes, a WS title, and 4 winning seasons. Look at the state of not only the whole organization, but the team now. Not only a difference, but a bad difference. Meet with the Yam Man, and pony up $400M, and let’s go full throttle, and get this done.

I think we all have questions about the commitment. They need to prove us wrong.

I don’t think there is much of a lure of coming to Boston anymore. Not for HOBO candidates, or players too. Big change, and it didn’t take long to get there.

DD came in with a team that had a good foundation of young talent. Sox are a couple years away from that. Henry needs to spend for the next few years to hold us over.

You know how much they care about your look at the Red Sox if they outbid the field? Zilch. Zero. Nada.

Lugo? Y'all serious? Who cares about Lugo.

Outbidding Cohen, Steinbrenner and the rest seems like a pipe dream to me. Maybe if they had done something else by now to demonstrate they weren't lying about being aggressive, I'd feel differently.

Gray, ERod and Lugo were all on our list of secondary acquisitions. That list is shrinking, and we still haven't made the primary acquisition.

It's not a pipe dream if Henry wants to do it. That's literally the only obstacle, and he has reasons to actually want to do it now. Namely, if they don't make a splash, the cash cow status of this team will be damaged. It's all about the bottom line.

Gray was a miss. ERod and Lugo were not, IMO.

That’s true, and DD added some pieces, and I agree JH needs to spend, but I’m not so sure that the Red Sox are as likely to be as good with the young talent coming that is hyped up on here all the time. Not Mookie, Raffy, and Bogey good anyways.

I agree. But maybe Henry thinks Red Sox fans just aren't very bright.

His market value is still thriving after 6 sub-.500 teams in 12 years and the jettisoning of Mookie Betts, so maybe anything seems possible to him now.

Sure, but the negative opinions on the Red Sox had never reached this level. They are getting burned by media and fans everywhere. They have a market research team. 2023 damaged this brand. If he doesn't spend to fix it, he's a f***ing idiot.

There is growing pressure on getting a first tier SP, since the fall back options are drying up. I agree.
