didn't you listen to our PC Andrew Bailey? he says we have a great pitching staff

Did you expect him to tell the pitching staff that they f***ing suck and tank whatever's left of team morale? Learn to read between the lines.

One thing I didn't realize is that Bellinger and M Chapman are both Boras clients along with Snell and Monty. Scott is outdoing himself this year.

Want it make sense for him to downplay it, from an accountability standpoint?

I do believe Bailey is impressed and thinks he can work with some of these pitchers…

If a Bowie Kuhn-type commish was running this thread, he'd void your post in the best interests of Boras.

Easier to work with them if you show them genuine belief in their abilities.

Don't be surprised, if some of these guys get less than projected. Some may end up taking a one year deal, in hopes they get more next winter.

There has been so little talk about some of these guys.

Honorable parties to contract negotiations don't leak offers to the media.

"These guys" may have numerous offers and the agent may be quietly playing the suitors against each other.

Or not.

A high-performing stock portfolio may have a stock or two that underperform. Likewise, Scott Boras clientele should do well in the aggregate even if one or two fall short.

I think it might be shades of pre-2018 offseason when Boras's opening ask for JDM was $210 million and he got $110 mill instead. Rumor is Snell looking for $240 mill. Not likely.

Well, the Sox used Pivetta that way:

Because he was following an opener. That isn't the plan for 2024. Crag is trying to develop 12 starters instead. If you don't see the difference between a bulk reliever not being able to pick up 3-5 inning stints frequently with a normal rotation and a converted starter following a opener, I don't know what to tell you.

they are probably hoping Isaiah Campbell can be that guy.

I don't see him as a closer. He's really a middle reliever. He's fine. Probably this year's grass is greener candidate for some Sox fans.

I'm thinking with the uncertainty of 3 of our SP'ers, they may get yanked after 1-2 IP, more than we want to imagine.

It's all part of the Great Build-Out of '24: develop a 12-man rotation -- then convert some of them to shortstops... never to be traded.

Sorry, that's all we got today. Except Scott Bore Us.

Under Crag, we are in the post shortstop era. Now we are in the develop the best 5th man in the league era.

I'd say Bello & Giolito should go 4+ innings nearly every start. The others are huge Q's.

Crawford 5 starts less than 4 innings, including 2 that were as a result of coming back from the bullpen

Houck - 1 start less than 4 innings

Pivetta - 0 starts less than 4 innings

So we had 4 starts from that group less than 4 innings last year excluding the 2 noted above. Over the course of a full season they'd get 6 at most? One a month?

Nobody has a clue what any of the starting rotation are going to do this year based on last year, or the year before that, or the year before that. Let’s just see what happens.

Your thinking, and predictions has always been wrong, and I don’t see any reason for that to change now.

Partly because they wouldn't yank starters getting drilled early.

Tanner's problem is not being able to get out of the 1st inning? Is that what it is?

No. He does pretty well until the 19th batter.

Ok so - opener then Tanner?

Paxton to Dodgers 1 yr $11mill.

I quotient have minded him, but he’s pretty fungible.

Besides the two unsigned big names, Clevinger, Alex Wood, Hyun-Jin Ryu, Michael Lorenzen, and Eric Lauer still remain viable options.

And then there’s the trade market…

He's fantastic first time through the order. It's probably why he just needs to be in the pen.

Urias - jail

Woodruff - injury season

German - I think I would go for it

Greinke - would be a real 1990's Red Sox type move and kinda fun

There's lots of other reclamation projects like Chirinos, Turnbull, Teheran but how much do their arms have left and is it worth it to put them in the rotation at the expense of the rest of the roster?

So fun to see you getting on board with Turnbull and Chirinos after blasting those suggestions when I made them earlier. Brad Keller also awaits his apology ;)

Using Houck to piggyback Hill was just part of Cora’s ageism. I’m surprised he didn’t bring a stretcher out to the mound when he had to yank Hill…

sure rather than simply sign a decent FA SP better to trade 1 of our top prospects for a SP with only a year or 2 of control then watch him walk when Henry won't buck up.
