I humbly submit that the Red Sox have never been in an auction like this one. It's unprecedented to have all the richest teams in on the same guy at once.

Plus Moto probably has some ideas on where he'd like to play. California, the Big Apple, or Boston? Think Boston wins as the most appealing destination?

Money can make up his mind.

So what? They have enough money and payroll space to sign Yamamoto if they want to. Are you implying Henry doesn't have the money to sign whoever the hell he wants? Because that's silly.

Yeah, but Cohen has even more money, doesn't have other investors to answer to, and is borderline crazy. If you were a Mets fan you'd be asking how anyone can possibly outslug him.

Because they won’t compete money wise.The Red Sox got their prize in Yoshida where they outbid everyone else by a large margin so much so that Boris shut things down the first day, which had never been done before. The Red Sox will not outbid any of the big spenders for the Yam Man no matter how much you wish it come true.

They used to be #1 in payroll. Now they are just a second rate franchise for some reason? Doesn't seem to make sense to me.

It’s amazing that you guys keep talking about spending in the past. What has changed is that the mountain has gotten a lot higher, and there are more people on it.

No, the only thing that changed was the CBT implications. Henry could spend with any of these guys if he wanted. If he's not doing it, it's because of a business decision (possibly faulty).

I keep trying to get across that JH is not the same guy as when he bought the Red Sox, and has a lot more interest now. His latest is The PGA.

He has a worse payroll situation and the Mets really need to reset that team. It's not that simple. Cohen has all that money, yet the Mets were cutting payroll. Make it make sense.

Yes I’m sure JH would have given Bogey $280M if no CBT implications were there.

Let's compare. Pros: all have multicultural options for dining, shopping, entertainment; each is part of the United States. Cons: all have climate issues -- conflagrations, floods, winds, raw or crappy playing conditions; each is part of the United States.

But without a doubt, Boston has the most Red Sox fans... except sometimes when the Dodgers or Mets invade Fenway -- but Yo Yama can change that!!!

He probably brought that opinion from another website focusing on "Red Sox Nation" or something.

Can you at least make an argument that makes sense?

Boston is far and away the easiest city of the three to park a car in. Does that count for anything?

The other stuff has no impact on the Red Sox. It's a completely separate pool of money.

Now do Red Sox games in LA and Shea Stadium...

Dodger Stadium is completely surrounded by a parking lot though. Plus all the highways that double as parking lots.

Shea Stadium?

The Sox have no games scheduled in 2008…

What's the new Mets stadium called? I don't care enough to look it up.

Isn't it MetLife or some s*** like that?

CitiField.

But MetLife should be embarrassed for missing out on this opportunity…

Hmm, that doesn't sound right at all.

Well, at least it isn't as bad as the Giants new stadium naming history: Pac Bell Park > SBC Park > AT&T Park > Oracle Park

Just gross...

@Feinsand

Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who has already met with the Yankees, Mets and Giants, will meet with the Red Sox in the coming days, per source. Two or three more teams - including the Blue Jays - will also likely meet with him, sources said.

@LouMerloni

Predictions: Mets get Yamamoto. LAD get Snell. Giants get Montgomery and Sox get Lugo. Just has that feel right now. We’ll see.

I could see this, easily.

Who is our second arm? A trade? Flaherty? Giolito? Lorenzen?

Trade. Likely involving Duran or Rafaela…
