I dunno -- but the guy who promoted Lawlar, Arizona GM Mike Hazen, is more highly regarded in the industry than I am.

 

Just to prove it last week, the D-backs extended Hazen to run things through the end of the decade.

 

Some suspect that was not a coincidence, with the Red Sox looking for a new CBOGMEIEIO.

 

2 playoff appearances in his 7 years. He's been fine? I think he only got the extension because the Sox FO was reaching out.

Some team should just hire Alfonso Soriano. The man is fluent in English, Spanish and Japanese. There are very few plates he cannot talk to…

The dude is also 24, and men often are villainized. I'm sure if he has kids they're getting taken care of they are his.

 

Money does crazy thing to a young man, but it does crazy things to women too. Back in the earlier days the NBA had to warn it's players to bring their own condoms with them in and out of the hotel rooms they would stay at with women. Everyone loves a "man doesn't take care of his kids story" before he even knows who she is but you don't ever hear a news story that says "man works ass off and takes care of kids"

 

With that said, my morning marijuana and thus pipe dream of Tatis Jr has ended. In a perfect world if San Diego was having a fire sale and Tatis Jr. could be had for a reasonable price I would love for Boston to be in on that, but Soto is probably the more reasonable player to discuss coming from SD.

That's a good point, but a bunch of Dominican players are millionaires around that age and don't get into this much trouble. Also to note, Tatis Jr. has always been rich, he's not a nouveau rich guy coming from poverty like most of the other guys.

I don't think Tatis Jr. has really gotten into an unreasonable amount of trouble that is raising red flags. Also, something I learned about being young, often the difference between the kids getting in trouble and the kids not getting into trouble is complete luck.

It's also about just being a kind person and meeting someone at their level. Even if the main communication is in English, Mookie learning Spanish will go a long way with him being a leader on the team.

1. I was responding to others talking about Soto vs Tatis.

2. Soto does not need to be extended for the 2024 budget needed for pitching, and the trade I suggested included $10M fro the Padres.

3. I'd still rather have pitching than Soto, if it is an either or choice.

 

You spoke about "another lefty," so I pointed out Soto would be replacing one lefty (Dugo) with another. He would not be adding to our LHB numbers.
