Turner has not been very good in his 33 innings at 3B. Also, he had the weird in between play where he didn't make it back to 3B for the runner a few series ago.

The best alignment would be Devers at 3B and Turner at 1B.

Colorado is bring the brooms with them to the game tonight. If they get to use them that will be a new low point, and embarrassment.

Do you think Cora finally took Kike off SS, because he wanted to, or was told to. Cora said last night that putting aReyes at SS fine, but if the had to pinch hit for him Late in the game Kike would have to go back to SS. Of course Cora left out that he has pinch hit for Kike a few times lately.

I honestly don't see how the Sox can lose tonight. Whitlock has been pitching well lately and Austin Gomber is truly awful. No sure things in baseball , but this game is about as close as you can get. Look for the offense to come alive against Gomber and put this one away early.

@DanSecatore

This lineup has compiled a total of 77.5 bWAR over parts of 50 cumulative seasons. That's an average of 1.5 bWAR per season. This is the lineup equivalent of Jeff Frye.

I try not to get swept up in emotion when I look at lineups, but I really bristled at this one.

Cora said he doesn’t see Reyes as an everyday player. Will someone tell him that Kike is not an everyday player either. Especially at SS.

I mean, I'm about as optimistic as anyone about how well the Sox could be if they ever decided to hit and pitch at the same time but I don't think they could ever not lose. I mean, this team has certainly showed us they can lose the game they were supposed to win.

Whenever someone says a win is a sure thing, especially in this game, my question to them is: what's the most you would bet on that, on a straight up bet?

The most important thing is to rest Devers now that he's heating up, so he can get cold again.

And already a off day tomorrow too.

I would take a shot if I could find anyone dumb enough to take the Rockies straight up tonight.

Are these days off for players really the manager's decision? Or are they being dictated by the front office?

It's part of standard modern baseball management. Scheduled off days. Every team is doing it. Nobody plays 162 any more *

* might need a fact check on that one.

But you didn't say how much you'd bet.

Yes. I absolutely think it comes from the front offices as team policy. They probably have done studies that show that it is beneficial in the long run. So, I can't blame Cora for it. I do think it is somewhat unfair to the paying customers, however.

Cora did it 2018, so it did not come from Chaim Bloom.

Is this a joke? You bench Devers after a 2 HR game? When this team is desperate for a win?

Go look for yourself. Two dingers in a game leads to almost nuttin in the next game.

7th start for Whitlock, 3 good outings, 3 bad ones.

He is 3-0, 18 1/3 IP, 3 ER, 3 BB, 15 K's, that probably works out to about 1.50 ERA or less in his 3 good outings.

Keep in mind that both Bello and Whitlock have worked on slowing down the change up in order to get greater velocity separation from their fastballs.

They've attributed THAT fact to the success versus the Yankees.

Cora is drooling over pinch hitting possibilities in extra inning.

Tanking in mid June perhaps? Playing Devers every night is not going to make a playoff team of this bunch. Might as well give him some time off. You know, rest him for next year's playoff run.
