C'est la vie. It is what it is. Oh well. What could have been done? No biggie.

I think they handled it well, except for the "lowball" Bogey offer.

I would not have extended Nate or traded him over the winter.

JD's salary made any trade too narrow to have a chance at helping us now or in the extended future.

I'm not sure what it would have taken to get Bogey to restructure his deal or sign an extension. We might have gotten some sort of Verdugo return for him, had we traded him, last winter, but I'm not thinking we should have.

I think we have a decent shot, this year, especially if we make a few strategic moves at the deadline, and we'll be fine in 2023 and beyond- with our without these 3.

If Kike returns, he may not be "broken." He's playing, now, in the minors.

Despite his often mentioned .240 career BA, he's been a clear plus player for a long time.

If Arroyo has no trade value, I'd DFA him over trading Kike, but Arroyo has longer team control, so maybe they trade Kike.

The easy solution is demoting Duran.

Kike only played 1 game in the minors, and he was hurting again. How can you not keep up on your favorite player?

I can't worry about what Johnny from Burger King thinks.

So everyone not on here is Johnny from Burger King? Very interesting.

How about what Kimmi from Talksox thinks?

I would be in an uproar if the Sox traded one of our key players at the deadline.

100% agree.

Tampa wouldn't let a good expiring contract go to waste like this.

Tampa wouldn’t have this much money in expiring contracts to begin with.

Johnny from Burger King is a mythical figure as made up as "Red Sox Nation." At least on here we can point to specific people and guess as to what each person would think.

No, but they'd have guys on expiring ARB deals.

Like Raffy is getting close to?

And I look forward to having the same conversation next year.

"It's just a shame they lowballed Raffy. Too bad they are close to a playoff spot this year and can't deal him. Maybe they can re-sign him or use the payroll savings to sign someone similar."

There is no one similar. The old regimes of JH/Theo would have had him locked up by now, and probably Bogey too. How times have changed, and I’m not sure for the better.

Is Johnny from Burger King also on the radio talk shows?

It's not like the Sox of old, and even under Theo, did not let stars walk out the door- or deal them close to FA time. Then there was the Fisk debacle.

Cooper

Lynn

Burly

Boggs

Pedro

Manny

Damon

Ellsbury

too many to mention them all.

Betts, Raffy and Xander should have been lifers. Everyone else could have come and gone. It wouldn't have mattered.

All radio show callers are Johnny from Burger King.

Agree 100%, but it won’t happen with Henry, and Bloom.

Fisk/Lynn was an embarrassment.

Burleson didn't ultimately matter as he wasn't good after leaving.

Boggs should have retired a Red Sox, but they were El Cheapo then.

Pedro was my favorite, but I understood why they let him go. He really only had 2 more years left in him at best.

Manny forced his way out of town.

Sox filled Damon's shoes just fine.

Ellsbury got paid and hit the DL just as we expected. It all worked to plan.

Fisk/Lynne was an embarrassment, and just a total cluster f—-. Boggs on horseback was not a pretty sight.

Indeed, and we don't know what will be said about Betts, Bogey, Nate, JD and maybe Devers years and years after they walk.

The buzzards sit waiting quietly on the fence about Mookie.

Verdugo's recent heroics have closed their beaks for a bit.

Betts' 150 wRC+ would look good in RF this year.

Dugy will never be a HOF like Mookie, so I don’t think a clutch hitting hot streak by Dugy will change anything.

I don't remember too many people being up in arms about Ellsbury. I think we all knew the injury concerns and it played out that way.

Manny forced his way out of town. Sox couldn't prevent that. We were all more mad at Manny than the Sox.

I'm not sure either of those statements have changed over time.

They both have 46 RBI this year. Not really any difference between them.

You do realize that Mookie was on the IL with a broken rib. He just didn’t stay as long as Frail did.

So you’re saying Verdugo is more durable?

No the main point being that Mookie doesn’t have as many AB that Dugy does, and even then Mookie bats leadoff, and Dugy 5/6. Mookie has had injuries the last two years though.
