That's all true.

Personally, I tend to think of Bloom as just another of Henry's agents. What people overlook is that Henry is actually the man who has set the strategic course for this team for the last 20 years. He brought DD in when it was time to capitalize. He brought Bloom in when it was time to get the financial house and farm back in order.

All your words ring true. I can't feel sorry for Bloom, though, because in my opinion he is merely doing his job, fulfilling the reasons he was hired for.

I do hope he does turn into Friedman some day... so when Ceddanne becomes the next Mookie, Bloom locks him up for at least 8-10 years.

Only in horror movies.

One could say that the last place sox season to date has been a horror movie....

I know. I just used it as a jumping off point to show that it took him a while to get to the promised land, too.

It was a good point.

One funny thing about all our GMs, is about which one took the longest amount of time to win a ring.

All the ones from 1919 to 2002…

Interestingly, the Yankees have lost 5 straight.

Correct, and are still leading the division, not a cellar dweller under .500.....

...under Henry...

Well, Cherington and Dombrowski both made us wait an eternity - three years. Bloom clearly looks to surpass that. But there’s always Dan Duquette (0 titles) and Mike Port (0 titles in his one year) that have us still waiting.

Of course I’m mixing ranks here, since some of these guys were GMs as some were VPs and such..

Cherington won in his second year.

Does the job title thing actually matter?

I wasn’t really sure if the tile matters. We fans just glom on to the most frequently mentioned name in the media. But Dombrowski really did not replace Cherington; he replaced Lucchino’s. And reportedly wanted to keep Cherington, but probably on a leash.

And we keep forgetting actual GMs like Brian O’Halloran and Mike Hazen…

All that matters to me and I think fans in general is who is the guy pulling the trigger on player moves. They really have a ball coming up with different names for that guy.

Could just call them all HOBO's - Head of Baseball Ops.

Sadly the Sox best defensive OF alignment right now might be Pham in LF, Cordero in CF and Verdugo in RF.

Not saying it’s a good alignment. But it’s probably their best.

Duran can maybe platoon with Pham in LF until such time as a defensive replacement is needed…

We effectively have 3 left fielders right now. There's no good alignment, there's literally just the less shittiest alignment

Duran should be down in the rookie league, and ONLY move up when he can track, and catch a fly ball properly, and not look like he is trying to catch butterflies.

Bloom finally added the RH'd bat, but forgot we need CF/RF not LF.

Bloom should have added that RH’d bat, before the season even began.

Bloom did add Refsnyder in the off-season and he’s been up with the parent club since early June…

Story isn’t a RH bat?

Also - see Refsnyder above…

It seems obvious the late addition of Story to the roster made Bloom feel like the line-up had its big RH'd bat and could survive with 3 lefty OF'ers filling the 2 corner OF slots.

Let's not forget the plan was to have RH'd hitting Kike in CF, FT.

An OF RHB, which would have prevented the Arroyo clown show.

Does Story play the OF? The needed another RH’d out there. Kike sucked from day 1 until he got hurt, and the only reason the Ref Man came up was, because of all the injuries. Remember that Arroyo was first option out there for some time

You know what thought did? Thought Kike was going to be like last year, and go through a few hot streaks, but he SUCKED from day 1.
