1. extend Devers; 2. sign Andrus and Senga; 3. instead of Judge and his albatross contract for the next 10 years, I'd substitute Eovaldi/Haniger/Taylor Rogers for the next three...

Ehhh go big or go home. Next years offense will be removed of JDM and Bogaerts. All these guys are getting overpaid. Gotta swing at something when all the pitchers ever do is throw strikes.

I would really hate to lose all those draft picks and international pool money and only have Contreras and Bassitt to show for it.

So, angry?

I meant to leave Bassitt off the list.

How is this?

Contreras (not my top choice, but the Sox are looking at upgrading catcher)

Senga

Nate

Conforto (1 yr)

Andrus (2 yrs)

Jansen

Fulmer

Hill (1/2 yr)

Angry or just somewhat disappointed?

I would be, too. I don't think we need 7 more players. I'd prefer we spend more on 3-4 or maybe 5 more.

For three years, we've had to focus on quantity over quality due to the amount of weak slots on the 40, tight winter spending budgets until Story and a directive to build the farm that often lessened the MLB return on some trades. I thought the Story signing was a sign the tide was turning. I'm fine with the Kike and Martin moderate signings, but I fully expected a splash or two. I guess we could call the Contreras addition as a "splash," but it might not even happen, and I have catcher at slot 6 or 7 on my high need list for the winter.

Nate & Senga are not really "splash signings." Conforto, Jansen and Fulmer would be upgrades over what we had, last year, but I don't think our improvement on paper would match the expense paid.

True, but a lot of Yankee fans think he should be gone because they've only made it to the Series once since 2003.

He's kept them competitive and ownership hasn't allowed them to push it up to the next level.

JD can be replaced, but we don't know what the replacement for Xander will be. Hopefully it's a guy with an Aruban passport.

All of our splashy moves are imaginary at this point.

And not the moves the FO is looking at doing apparently. We're much more fun.

“I really philosophically believe that you win with star players,” said Dombrowski, who declined to discuss specifics until Turner passes his physical. “Now, you can’t win with star players alone, but you can build around star players. I’ve really always had that belief. As I’ve observed, it’s been successful for the clubs that win."

He should change it to: "I really believe that you win with star players, but you build a bullpen around them."

John Henry has not changed. He's always wanted it this way.

Moneyball was written 20 years ago. Here are Henry's lines from his recruiting scene in the movie version:

JH: "You won the exact same number of games as the Yankees, but the Yankees paid 1.4 million dollars per win, and you paid two hundred sixty thousand. Yes, I want you to be my General Manager. Any GM that doesn't tear down their team and rebuild it using your model is going to be a dinosaur."

Chaim Bloom is just playing Brad Pitt playing Billy Beane. Meanwhile, D Rex has an open checkbook down at Citizens Bank Jurassic Park...

Billy Beane: 0 trips to the WS.

Trevor Story is not a moneyball signing.

All teams look for bargains. Even with the cost cuts before 2020, Bloom was given $40M to spend that winter. Billy Beane has never had that much to spend in one winter- maybe even two combined.

Still early but reading here and there that everybody is eating Bloom's lunch thus far.

They are falling right into his trap.

It may not be a good trap tho.

Is it a lavish buffet?

Stinky cheese underneath a shoebox with a stick holding the shoebox up. Ignore the long string tied to the stick.
