Beni has 4 HR and 49 RBI. If he was on the Sox with those numbers, he'd be taking his fair share of abuse.

That would be concerning numbers for a 3 or 4 hitter, but for a leadoff guy his primary job is to get on base, something he does pretty well.

Some won't admit it's too early to judge a trade for prospects.

Beni was a fine player. I doubt he'd have made much of a difference, but he was a plus player.

His team control ends, this winter, so his half of the trade is just about in the books.

So far, it looks like a bad trade. Cordero has sucked. Wink no longer looks all that promising, but there is still time to turn it around.

The other 3 prospects are far away from the bigs, and mjay easily amount to squat.... or not.

The $3M saved year one was used to sign an OF'er named Renfroe. One can choose to not count that as part of the trade, or sub Marwin's name for Renfroe, and the dynamic changes significantly.

Fill in the blank on who we signed for Beni's second year.

Says the guy that was calling the Beni trade a win after a couple of decent starts by winky.

Just another moonflop......

Yeah, but you're just making stuff up.

I'll bet nobody here called the Beni trade a "win" because of a couple of decent starts by Wink.

I wouldn’t put to much money on someone who touts the first sign of success anytime to say Bloom made a good trade.

Bloom’s good trade: Pivetta/Seabold

It’s the only slam dunk good one.

Pivetta has had his moments good, and bad, but considering what the Sox gave up I’ll say it was a plus.

The WAR numbers are the only means, albeit imperfect, of evaluating a player's overall value for a season and even for a career.

As for Price, when his WAR's the past two seasons have been +0.6 and +0.6, dumping half of his salary on the Dodgers was freaking genius. Get out the duck boats, and let's have a parade honoring Chaim Bloom! He also avoided paying Mookie Betts $365M ($30M per year) for performing at less than half the level he played at when playing for the Sox.

I can calculate batting average, slugging percentage , ERA , etc. with a pencil and paper . But I don't know how to calculate WAR. I suppose it is somewhat complicated. But as far as I know , it is supposed to somehow correlate to wins. Now , when I check the standings today I see that the Sox have 60 wins. The Dodgers have 85 wins.

So maybe we should hold off on that parade for Chaim Bloom. By the way , did you see that catch Mookie made last night ? I guess not. But he does it a lot.

He certainly did say it, you're full of s*** if you deny it.

But even more peculiar is your constant need to run to your master's defense. Strange........

If one reads between the lines, I think Dan Shaughnessy just joined the Fire Bloom Society in today's Globe.

He sucks for a whole host of OTHER reasons that have been stated several times over. Him and Tomase get no love from me.

Shaughnessey is one the best baseball writers in the country regardless of what you think.

I suspect that his article reflects the perspective of a growing number of anti Bloomers within the Red Sox organization.

There is a growing number of Sox fans who are ready for a change in management. And there is a reason for that .

I myself was ready for a change the day Bloom got hired, and I feel even more strongly today.

I agree, and Shaugnessy usually has lots of info to support his opinions.

Alex Cora knows a lot of baseball. I don't know how good he is about the business side of it , but he does understand the game . Anyone think he could be G.M.? At least it would be a change from the trend to hires nerds instead of baseball people . Any other suggestions? Maybe Varitek as manager ?

Cora no way is GM material. My guess is if Henry believes the situation is really dire that he must fire Bloom now, he will turn to someone with s proven track record of success. He will make that person an offer that he can not refuse because Henry needs him that badly. There is only one person who comes to.mind. But he may not be willing to take the job unless his conditions were met. That person is.......Theo Epstein.

Um, you're the one who mentions him in half your posts, Skeeter. You're past strange.
