Bloom did have a certain amount of money to spend this year and he invested most of it in Story, Bradley, Wacha, Hill, Diekman.

Outside of Story, a bunch of one year deals. And one two year…

I hope he’s seen enough. At this point, move Duran to LF and try Franchy in CF. While he certainly could be worse, it’s actually looking unlikely…

Duran, and Franchy both need to go away period. I would rather see JBJ back out there than either of these two trying to pretend they are Major League Ballplayers. Duran can run, but from the neck on down he doesn’t have a clue. At least JBJ could catch the ball.

I was on a very short list that liked the JBJ trade.

And if the Sox want him back, he is available…

Story Land is not made for Boston.

I’m not a big Story fan, but it’s far too early to make a call on him either way…

I liked it okay too, but where I differ from you is that I'm now conceding it was a fail. JBJ has been well below replacement level for two years.

Just partially, and the debate is how much "partially?"

Bloom has had 3 years to work on all the expiring contracts, and to work on the Bogey, and Raffy situations. What has he done on these things? Got rid of Vaz for a couple of prospects, and NOTHING else. Not much partially there, and that is all on Bloom.

Right, but I was only talking about the 2022 team.

But there is a big difference between committing $20mil or so on 4 guys for one year and committing $140mill to one guy for 6.

Even if one year deals don’t work out, they’re very easy to move on from…o

Even though Kike sucked with the bat to start the season at least the Red Sox had a good defensive outfield. Now with Duran in CF, and Dugo in RF the D is less than stellar. The Sox needed help in CF/RF, but what does Bloom do, but go out, and get a LF.

I proposed and the deals were accepted (not sure OAK would):

Casas, Duran, Downs and Seabold for Laureno & Langeliers

Bello, Yorke, Lugo & RHern for Laureno & Langeliers

It might take Casas, Duran & Bello to get those two, but BTV refused due to an overpay by BOS (82>56.)

BTV is useless. Let know the next time one of these deals actually happen.

Actually I plugged in Soto and Bell for the exact same package San Diego sent to Washington minus the least valuable Susana and it was accepted.

I did not include Hosmer, but the cash included offset his value on that site. If you like I can provide a link…

Oakland is not trading Langeliers. Murphy is another story…

I meant with the Red Sox, but thanks anyway.

Regardless of the team, the model they’ve devised is actually very accurate. The overwhelming bulk of real life trades do work in their model.

Sure, guessing an exact trade isn’t likely. But a trade accepted on their site at least appears to be fair for both sides…

I’m not saying it isn’t accurate, but only that I’ve never seen a suggested trade on here actually happen. Nice toy though.

Well, I've heard we are NOT trading Casas.

(I agree. I don't think the A's are looking to trade prospects, unless they like the prospects they gat back more.

I think most teams would love to get Bello. I'd make him more untouchable than Casas.

You mean they aren't interested in Darwinzon?

How about a package of Darwinzon, Franchy, Duran, and even throw in Jeter. How could anyone resist that?

I know this sounds crazy, but as of right now it looks like releasing JBJ was the wrong move. Seriously, if Duran isn't hitting how much worse off are we? same black hole in the lineup except we go from one of the best CFers in baseball to the worse...by far.

Another Bloom moment of wisdom.

Well lets be fair, no one complained when they released JBJ. But honestly, I'd rather have him than Duran right now.

It might be the wrong move, but it doesn't really matter any more.

It might not matter anymore, but the guy who made that decision does.

Yes, but releasing Bradley doesn't count much against him. It's trading for him that does.

Then you can have him on your team. Bradley is useless with a bat in his hands and we cannot have that kind of black hole in the OF. It was absolutely the right move. The fact that Duran is a defensive liability out there doesn't change that. Duran might improve defensively. If he doesn't we might need to find another CF, but Bradley is not that guy. My guess is that he will soon be selling used cars.
