Jeff Bailey used to do the same thing in Spring Training.

 

I used to call the career minor leaguer, usually someone like Chris Carter or Pedro Ciriaco, who had a flat out great spring and generated too much form chatter when they were clearly destined for (then) Pawtucket as “this year’s winner of the Jeff Bailey Award.”

 

It’s probably time to name a few candidates for the JBA for 2022…

I’d give him some more time. He’s still young, and could get better. Boggs wasn’t that good when he came up, but he became a pretty good 3B.
