Carlos Correa is the closest thing to a young Arod we may ever see without PED

Absolutely. Thin air is rolled into WAR.

It also includes a modification for whether or not a player is going through a divorce or just fighting with his girlfriend or mistress…

Yes, Partner Factor.

Marcelo Mayer question ? ETA on this young man ? Best guess ? maybe Story as SS for 2 and move over to 2nd ? Although Story has some flaws in his away splits I’m kinda intrigued by the upgrade with the glove and obvious power the guy has .Wondering what his overlay looks like from Fenway onto his spray chart ? I’ll be happy to get this player in Boston not depressed at this point .We can all project what ifs but how often does that work out ? For me I’m OFER a million .I like the fit and will put my neck out here .I guess I’ll be 1of 1 and I’m ok with it .Next is contract here it goes lol 6Years 185 plus bonuses over 220.The thought of Story playing with Kike and Devers is freaking awesome honestly.I was against this but have changed course. If Correa is off the table Go get Story Edited by Swiharts Ghost

Trevor Bauer's PF for 2021 was minus 2.5 wins.

Hey... "minus wins"? That could almost be political for losses (if that hadn't already been eradicated from recent platforms posing as history books).

It probably wasn't your intention, but the term is at least diplomatic... and we're all ambassadors of a sort for the sport. Now I'm going to punch myself in the head.

My only intention was to make a stupid joke. notin started this particular line of stupid joke with his post at the top of the page.

I made my joke about "Partner Factor" and then it later occurred to me that Bauer's season and maybe his whole career was derailed by his sexual proclivities.

Geez... now we're straying into almost half the genders in the history of the world.

There's so little baseball to talk about right now that a little straying seems fine...

I've been rather surprised at all we've found to talk about.

He could be a phenom and be up by the end of the year in 2023, he could also take 6 years to become an everyday shortstop at the MLB level. The latter would be absolutely fine and perfectly justify the pick. You don't make decisions at the MLB level based off of an 18 year old out of highscool. SO much can change over the next several years.

Trevor Story = extremely expensive Paul DeJong. Reportedly the Cardinals are looking to upgrade at SS over DeJong, so save the cash and commitment and just go get PDJ instead.

I’d rather splurge on Correa than waste money (and more importantly, years) on the adequate but undoubtedly overpriced Story…

Hard pass on Correa. He's injury prone and way too inconsistent with the bat.

He does get hurt too frequently, but he can field, is friends with Cora, and just turned 27…

... and he can hit; all these are reasons I said a year ago he'd be the best free agent position player -- and for Boston. The problem now is, he had a great season, and his comp who signed for Mookie money -- Lindor -- didn't.

Some of the CBA issues the owners disagree with are counterproductive with what's actually best for the owners; nobody really wants to pay $350 million for the next five years of Correa's prime, and then get stuck with another half decade of downside. The true bargains are locking up the Acunas and Francos at a younger age for lower costs that are a much better investment on likely production. Of course, owners want to pay those young guys $10M per, and letting them free would mean they'd have to probably double that...

... but isn't that still better than paying them triple in their late-30s?

Too injury prone.

Too uneven, even when healthy.

We couldn't keep Betts, and now we should give Betts money to someone who has had an OPS below .730 in 2 of the past 4 seasons?

Pure insanity!

Correa is not even close to being a young ARod. Correa will be 28 in September. He's never had 100 RBI's or 30 home runs in any of 7 seasons in the bigs. He's an average player on a talented team (with Altuve, Bregman and Brantley).
